Gigginstown/Mullins

Giggi are at it according to Nov 4th edition of The Phoenix magazine.
Seemingly O'Leary recently wrote to many amateur jockeys telling them he would not pay them for riding his p2p ers but would give them a 500 Euro bonus for every winner ridden. The top riders JJ Codd/ Derek O Connor are not too impressed with this according to the article.
A lot of Giggi Bumper horses lately have been ridden by 5 and 7 pound claimers which makes you wonder if a similar policy applies to the Bumper horses and begs the question how the big amateur races at The Festival will pan out.

I thought that was the whole point of being an amateur -no riding fee but the possibility of a present from the owner.

Qualified Rider technically in Ireland though not sure how that effects the "Amateur" status.

In the UK generally you pay expenses, which are allowed but some riders expenses are higher than others, and some will have the same expenses to ride at Huntingdon as they would at Musselburgh (within reason).

Mixed results for the ex Mullins Giggi horse - Apple's Jade and Don Poli for Elliot running like drains and Valseur Lido bolting up for H de B.

To be honest I agree with him. Henry is a much better trainer of chasers than Willie. Willie is a master with his hurdlers though.

It's worth starting a thread on this.

Wylie is more patient than most. I'd say he is waiting on his star duo to ultimately decide where Yorky goes.

its a hot Arkle, they have Bellshill for the RSA so JLT or champion.

Patrick Mullins has said wherever Yorky runs he wins this season

I honestly can't see him being kept over hurdles because Willie has such a stranglehold on the CH.

Wylie on ATR this evening

Yorkhill goes chasing (try and get 3 races into him before The Festival)

Bellshill - RSA Chase

Invitation Only - Neptune (Bullish)

Good mention for Battleford

Could we see Yorkhill in The Arkle or is that just greedy? It would arguably be race of the season if he did but JLT seems far more likely.

I'd love to see him run in the Arkle against Altior and Min it would be some spectacle but alas the fact he dropped back to 2 miles at Punchestown and lost badly might swing them towards longer trips.

Be great to see Altior serve Min his ass again, why not add Yorkhill to the list.

The Gigginstown stable pulled out all of the horses that were trained by Willie but both parties have had success since

“It was unfortunate but we are all still on good terms. We were talking to Michael that Apples Jade beat Vroom Vroom Mag in the Hattons Grace and look I think both of us are probably going to be weaker without each other”
“It is a decision that was made, but both parties are having success and there is no bad feelings so. I rode a winner for the Gigginstown and Noel Meade and Michael said to me, don’t be afraid to ring and I won’t be so hopefully I can ride more winners for them”

Sounds as if there's a "fair old contingent" of Mullins horses having a gallop on the Curragh today, could be a bit of blue on Oddschecker later.
