Gigginstown/Mullins

ah yes, that would make more sense and you're right in that Elliot would probably love to move a few duff ones out to make room for some of Willie's better castoffs

Question for you all:
If you had a grade 1 horse and you could put it with any jumps trainer in Ireland, who would you put it with and why?

First of all, it's a chaser in my case! I'd probably have to do a Michael, and see what they charge, but between de Bromhead (have seen him at points - seems a nice man, plus all his horses are given time and jump well) and Tony Martin (proper trainer, never gets the credit he deserves because of his tendency for dodgy gambles). Mullins not even on the shortlist for me (I'm sure he's quaking).

Apple's Jade, Blow by Blow and Don Poli all going to Elliott who's getting 20 of the lot.

Joseph o'Brien for me.

Not got the experience but I really like the start he's made and he knows enough from when he was a jockey regarding how to train.

Rumours circulating* that the schism is down to Mullins telling Gigginstown to move Don Poli on, as "Vautour is our Gold Cup horse, and he won't be beaten this season. I'd run yours in the Welsh National myself, but I'd rather be shot of the boat, to be honest".

* mainly around my kitchen.

I heard that Mullins is absolutely refusing to run anything in the Ryanair and this has led Ricci to quip that Aintree is our gold cup (in reference to Vautour)

:lol:

Elliot now fav to be Leading trainer in Ireland? Does Perth count as Ireland now?

Surprising fact (well it surprised me at any rate): So far this season the trainer to have given Richard Johnson the most rides and the most winners is Gordon Elliott.

Brilliant closing comment from Tom Kerr in today's RP suggesting that Mullins should have learnt from O'Leary and kept his training fees the same, while introducing charges for hay, water and priority boarding in the horse box.
