Not sure Goulanes would jump well enough, like you say Grasshopper not good for the health, should have won easily at Cheltenham in April but jumped poorly. That was in a small field too.

I would always be prepared to forgive a horse a below par run after the festival and the ground at Newbury should be softer.I'm fairly sure that Pipe will want to win a big race with him-The Welsh National might be an alternative.

Pretty sure Pipe and co wanted to go for the 4 miler at the Festival with Goulanes last year, that changed when Dynaste's ran in the Jewson, and that decision was made late on.
I think last year's staying novices are a pretty poor bunch so personally wouldn't touch Goulanes with a barge pole.
Like you say maybe the Welsh/Scottish national.
 
Rocky Creek. i agree if Invictus is as good as Kingy thinks it should win by a country mile.

Cant have Rocky Creek at all though, The close proximity to Molotof last season tells you everything you need to know
and was well and truly put in his place at Aintree
 
Tell you what tells me all I want to know. As you go into Nicholl's yard, the first box on the right is where Kauto Star used to be, the second box is where Denman used to be and Big Bucks is in the same block. I was told they were all there so they could keep an eye on their best horses from the office, which is immediately opposite.

Silviniaco Conti is in Denman's box and Rocky Creek is in Kauto Star's box.;)
