Kotor was lovely, so idyllic and pretty cheap too. Would highly recommend it, hope it doesn't go the way of Dubrovnik though and becomes ruined and overpriced by cruise ship tourism.

Wasn't keen on Budva, ended up staying in Petrovac instead which was a lovely sleepy little coastal town with a nice beach.

Also went to Virpazar on Lake Skadar, again, highly recommended.

Didn't see the poverty really, but quite a lot of cute stray cats which Mrs Stan wanted to adopt!

Your probable std aside :D, what did you think of it/what did you get up to?

I'm very biased towards Paris, but I think Amsterdam is the best city in Europe (at least that I have been to), and would rather it without the sex and drugs side (was there when interrailing and once with those mushrooms enough!). So much to do and see, the coolest pubs in any city in europe (Bruin cafes), dutch people very laid back and their directness is enjoyable, the nine streets, the Rijksmuseum/Stedilijk/Van Gogh museums, the food, canals, the fact it has less cars than most cities.

I am ashamed to say I had a chance to live there a few years back and had 2 weeks to decide between there and Switzerland, and chose the latter. I would want my head read.

Anyone else been?
 
I'm not the biggest fan, I think it's a little scruffy in a lot of places and prefer Utrecht in the Netherlands.

The best city in Europe for me is without doubt, Berlin. So varied and so much to see and do.
