Horses I Got Wrong & Right

to be honest..you are starting to come across as one biggest knobs i've come across on forums.

i'm sure you aren't in real life..but you give that impression here

Sure are you? you know what I am like in real life? geez who's a clever boy then you patronising clown

Harvey Dent that's you buddy. and so jealous of other peoples success......so you attack cos this is your domain isn't it King Harvey?

You can't be happy for anyone can you?........huge french fry your carrying on your shoulder Harvey.....world passed you by has it?

I got many things wrong today.

Everything bar Peace and Co

I did win 25 quid in the gold cup.....dutched about 8 horses :0)

But I had left 100 quid on Many Clouds.laid of the rest or a small profit so I came out about square

Felt like cheating but the race was too tuff to work out.

I lost *** quid on On Tour......started of with 50 quid got greedy.
Hampered at the second put paid to that bet

Lost in the Hunter Chase...............backed SWC not the horse.

Last gasp bet on AP pure sentiment,,,,,and he gets hampered at a crucial stage

Despite all that hampering and bad judgement one of the best Cheltenham's I have had

Now I want to rest a while been a draining week

Well if you don't want me to be sure..then thats up to you..what you are saying then is that you are like you are on here in real life..ok fair enough...you said it

This is what your problem is Tanlic..exactly what you have posted about me. You came to this board..picked out who you thought was competition..then decided to try and run them down.

From what i can remember of reading TRF..you had to be top dog on there as well.

You must tell me who I am jealous of by the way..again i think you are describing your own emotions.

There is not one person anywhere I am jealous of..i'm too old for all that nonsense..if you think i'm jealous of you..you must be having a massive laugh..seriously ....you are the very last person i would ever be jealous of.

Jealousy rears its head a lot on here..unfortunately you aren't smart enough to spot the offenders..or even yourself.

I'm happy for lots of people..i think a few here have made a bob or two following my posts..thats the whole point of trying to help people..but i don't need to know how much money anyone has on.

People who mention how much they win..imo..are usually the ones who make bugger all...a real winner never mentions money..why would they need to?..they content with winning..don't need to wave wads of cash in people's faces..saying look how much i won.

So lets just get this clear..so you can drop the .."you can't mention winning" ...childish sh1t you peddling now..i love people winning..its when they harp on about how much money it bores me..i'm very sorry about that. If i could..just to fit into your macho bragging world..i'd try to love it..just for your benefit...but that won't happen

I'm very sorry you are peeved by someone thinking what you think is cool isn't..but you will get people disagreeing with you on messageboards..just deal with it eh?

I've only disagreed with you..whereas you regularly belittle my methods..and show great ignorance as well when doing so...oh i think thats sh1t..but i don't know why..i'll just rubbish it attitude

well..when you do that..i don't particularly think its very constructive..in fact its pig f*ckin ignorant..and unnecessary

so..cut that sh1t out..and we will get along just fine

That's spot on, 100%.

It's the same in life as it is in racing. People who are successful have no need to impress. People who aspire to that though, do. It's why the mega rich are normally more agreeable than the aspiring middle class

In terms of horses got wrong - Well how can Wicklow Brave not be on that list? next years champion hurdle for my new rejuvenated hero as it rises like Rooster Booster. I ought to make an honourable mention for Next Sensation too. He was another one I'd written off as too dodgy a jumper. I still remember some hilarious piece Ch4 did bigging him up before a Doncaster race once because Zara had schooled him. Well he'd have been better falling at the first and at least leaving open the possibility that the 'horsewoman' had weaved her magic. Instead he hit half a dozen fences and jumped really big and slow. Ch4 never mentioned afterwards (fear of being sent to the Tower for treason I suspect) but I kind of wrote him off as a pig after that.

I'm not sure you got Sprinter Sacre wrong James if you took a decision to back him on a which way do you dive type of call. The risks of backing him were known. You assessed and accepted them based on the balance of what you thought the most likely outcome would be. I'm not sure that's necessarily wrong, wrong. In fact you could argue it was an accurate judgement. The people who would be wrong were those who backed him unequivocally. The people who were right were those who equally said he was more likely to fail than succeed

I got The New One badly wrong, and I don't want to bore everyone with the others I got wrong! The list is too long.

Coneygree and Cole Harden cheered me up, I got them right but came round to backing them only the night before so was hardly advocating them as winners months in advance.

Blaklion - Just so wrong wrong wrong!
Dodging Bullets - Backed him at last 3 festivals!
Douvan - Opposed mainly on price.
The New One - not finishing in the first 3 as opposed to actually winning!
Wicklow Brave - Worst feeling of my punting life yesterday when he went in !
Peace & Co. - Thought he would pull too hard
Next Sensation - Had a big bet on him in Grand Annual last year!

Right
Uxizandre
Nichols Canyon

Truth be told I had a very disappointing Festival. Was in a big hole after 2 days and just about managed to get square for the week! But all through E/W bets and a couple of E/W multis.

Other than UDS & Vautour (Thanks Slim :adore:) I didn't roar a winner home all week.

Culminating in the obscene frustration at Wicklow Brave (Ruby deserting him the deciding factor in me not backing him), followed by the disaster of Blaklion and then having a very large E/W bet on Noble Endeavour 20/1 in the 4:40 yesterday.

I might be mistaken, but I believe he was the only horse all week who went a length up after the last and then the other horse got back up to win. Appreciate the lads had Killutagh Vic, but spare a thought for those that were unfortunately on the wrong side of that

Can someone please rewind the clock 4 days... I really want another go.
The prospect of having to wait 361 days to redeem myself is really grating on me today.

Wrong:
King's Palace
Blaklion
Value at Risk

Dodging Bullets

Right:
Shaneshill
Josses Hill (to a certain extent)
Uxizandre (albeit I went off him a tad)
Black Hercules
Apache Stronghold

The Jp horse in the triumph is an example of a horse I'd be keen to have on my side and reverse positions on better ground

id imagine WPM will send something to take on TNO at Aintree too. Anne is one that springs to mind

That would be some race. I'm normally lukewarm about Aintree even though I go one year in two but that match-up and Holywell vs Conti would get the juices flowing.

how'd we price that in a match bet?

would have Annie onside tbh. think there's been enough to suggest TNO has gone backwards this year.

Right -
Un De Sceaux :D :D
Maybe Hargam on different ground
No way of telling but maybe Champagne Fever too

Wrong -
All the rest!

Was a Cole Harden fan since Wetherby -happy to see him win but wish I'd had more on him.Was delighted to see Special Tiara get placed.
I laid Faugheen on value grounds at 1.85.
Was happy to win a modest few quid during the week.

Right - Moon Racer:
Some of know to our cost that the Champion Bumper is a rough race and you need a horse that can handle himself. For this reason I especially like Moon Racer, who on his Fairyhouse debut (at 50/1, incidentally) met interference but was then brave and willing enough to go through a tight gap between the leaders and get away from them. The form of that race has stood up well, and the race he won at Cheltenham in the autumn also looks strong. Moon Racer made all that day. Winning his two races in contrasting styles shows he is tactically versatile and amenable, which should be a big help in the hurly burly of a big field where the competition for a prominent position early is likely to be fierce.

Wrong - Monksland
Before getting injured he was a classy sort, on the rise but not yet tested at the highest level. His comeback run at Leopardstown was very satisfactory after such a long lay-off. He was potential bounce material for the Gowran race given it came less than a month after Christmas and the going was very testing, so I think it was an even better run. There's time now to get him nicely set up for Cheltenham and I expect he'll be suited by the probable going there.
