OK, I'll start the ball rolling. :)

It's probably easier to do it ony a few days (or possibly a week) in advance or it may get confusing if people advise they are going racing in 3 months time.

Once you have posted you may receive PM's or notification via this thread from other people attending the same meeting just in case you feel like meeting up. It may be useful for those people you have not met before, even if it's for a quick chat, and maybe a drink before you go your seperate ways. I have met quite a few from this forum and it is great for those that may normally go alone to have a friendly face to look out for. It may also be useful if people can get hold of complimentary badges and others may able to get them at reduced prices etc

Feel free to post whenever you are planning to go and just fancy meeting up with anyone else from TH that may also be attending.

I am not scaremongering, but please don't assume just because they post on TH that they are not be a nutter so ensure you take the usual steps if you are meeting up with someone for the first time. Swap names and phone numbers and make sure someone knows who you are meeting and where. It may seem a bit OTT but we all know that nutters can masquerade under many guises and personalities when hiding behind a username on a forum. We also don't always know who is a female and who is a male, and peoples ages, so best just to be fairly certain you know a few facts about someone before meeting up. We wouldn't want a pretty 17 year old female meeting up with someone she thinks was of a similar age, and it turns out she's meeting up with Brian Hartigan. :shy: :D

Seriously, in this day and age we can never be too sure. :suspect: I am glad to report that the 20 or so people I have met from this forum, all seemed to be sane - even Krizon. :D

That's because I sent my twin sister, Hannah Ball-Lecter. Notice how one or two members don't post any more? About the same time as my stock of Chianti went down...

It isn't fair to deny people golden opportunities.

Brilliant!!

Maybe people should post up reviews of people they have met for people to check before 'booking' a meeting in order to avoid disappointment!!

PS, Everyone thinks I'm a grumpy ######, but I dont give a ######! shrug::

Good idea - we could all have a ratings system for our respective qualities (or lack of them), from 0-5 on Sense of Humour, Round Getter-In, Personal Appearance and Hygiene, Swearing Level, Wit, Useful Knowledge, Taking Loss in Good Heart, Not Showing-off When Winning, etc. We'd soon sort out the Banded forumite from the true Classic winner!

Kathy, will due respect, I can't think of a more compelling reason for strongly suspecting that someone might very well be a nutter, than the one you describe.

Or do you mean because they post on TH they may well be a nutter.

Sorry, it's been a long day....

I know it's late but is anyone at House of the Fairies today? It's rumoured that Mr Delargy is putting in an appearance and he's asked me if anyone else is off there too!

It was great to meet Trudi and her lovely Dad today! That's two days running I have sidled up to people I know from the forum and said "hello". :shy:

I have a feeling Diminuendo and UG may be sharing a few of their photos with us later today. I didn't actually meet UG, but I have it on good authority he was there. I hope he wasn't avoiding me. :suspect:

Unfortunately, I didn't take any photos as our forum proffessionals were on hand to do a much better job than me, which left me to have a good old chat and soak up the atmosphere!

A great days racing - I had forgotton what a nice course Sandown is.

I hope you and your pals had a good day too, Brian! :)

When I saw how sunny it was, with chaps just wearing suits and no topcoats, I rather regretted not going and trying to find you, Kathy. It looked a really grand day out, no nasty falls, thank God, and a superb flourish with the Grand Military at the end! I thought ADMIRAL PEARY gave his rider a very 'interesting' time out there! Tanked off at a fine rate of knots, fun to see his pilot attempting to restrain him via what John Oaksey calls the 'old English lavatory seat' position - but there was no holding the bugger. Did awfully well to get a gallant third after lengthening his rider's arms by several inches, too.

I've only been to Sandown once before, I think - I'm sure Dessie was parading there then, with other lesser stars of the jumping world. It was a lovely view, but a bit tricky to quickly get from parade ring to the front, if I recall. I believe the escalators they put in are desperately slow - is that right?

"Sat on the bog and reading the paper" was my comment on seeing the pic I have of him Auntie K !!

Three of the jockeys involved in some carnage over the farside were still writhing around on the turf as I walked over for the train , some 5 minutes after Hoo La Baloo had jumped the last...and an ambulance only just arriving. But then they were Military members so were probably waiting for a chinook. I would say they looked in a bad way, but I'm not sure what they looked like before setting off.

Missed you again Kathy ! hehehehe :P
