Ipswich Murders?

when i first heard about this, i just presumed (we all make preumptions) that it would be the pimp bumping them off. But after five killings & the wya the bodies were found you have to wonder whether the police have got it right.

im no police expert/profiler, but i would be pretty confident whoever is doing these killings is watching it on the news for some kind of gratification. So why the feck are they mentioning the the Ripper etc in the same sentance, this is giving him/her/them glorification in their eyes & is probably what they want. The media, more often than not, is our own worst enemy.

Can I remind members and not for the first time what the rules say

If you disagree with any decision we make, contact us privately where we will consider your complaint. You may not publicly question any decision we have made on the forum.

Brian is rightly pissed off by the comments on this thread .

I thought anyone on the forum could start a thread about any subject, whether it was on the news or not.

Is there some on the forum's terms and conditions I have missed?
Evidently

Well, with you trying to restrict the number of words we can use on a certain thread, and Brian deleting a thread about an important news item, please don't blame me for being somewhat confused. <_<

To the extent that he is possibly yet another core contributor to the forum that will stop posting.

There really is a very questionable attitude bordering on the salacious from a few on here whenever a particularly unpleasant and/or horrific news story breaks.

So much so that we Moderators are really seriously considering the viability of this section of the forum, as there are now several members that make no contribution to the racing section and would appear to have alighted on this section merely to promote their own views on politics, religion and sex! It wouldn't matter if they were open to debate but the sheer intolerance that emanates from some of them is not adding anything to the mix of views on here but very much to contrary, as evidenced by the increase in closed, moved and deleted topics.

I posted the original thread in all sincerity as a breaking NEWS subject for discussion...

Are you now saying that its wrong to do so???????????? and some sort of censorship is prevalent on this forum and LAW & ORDER and its relevant topics are not to be entered into??? And to have free speech within the boards rules is now to be over ridden by the moderators?????

The link should have been deleted (if it was that bad) but not the original post as its a topic for discussion its a point of interest that most people are discussing throughout the land, but you are saying we should not discuss it? If that be the case I really think that you moderators are out order in a very very big way................. :rolleyes

Completely disagree.

What's wrong with wanting to talk about what is the biggest news story in the country at the moment? Where is the justification for accusations of salaciousness?

There's certainly been worthwhile posts in this thread, not least Krizon's comments on the media's reaction and the legalisation of prostitution. All of those who have posted in this thread are also regular contributors elsewhere on the forum.

But sometimes these high controversy sections become very contentious and heated.

I think people need to calm down a bit. This section used to be great for a bit of banter, bit of advice and a bit of discussion. Now it is like Nutters Anonymous.

Completely agree regarding legalising it.
But where do they locate them...............? this was a bone of contention a few years ago here in the bronx and a petition was quickly drawn up to stop them coming here.

I really think that this is the MAJOR problem that they have not been legalised as such........... [/b][/quote]
Exactly Merlin! its not just this issue that causes this problem I live a few mins drive from the notorius Crays Hill travellers site & everyone agrees that they need somewhere to go but "not in my area" senario!

Kathy it is perfectly clear , both were Moderator decisions following complaints by members of the forum - if you don't like them you raise issues privately by PM .

I raised an issue via PM to moderators about Shadow Leader sending me a very rude PM a few weeks back and I am yet to receive a response.

To whom did you send it ? If you are unhappy with a response or lack of a response from a Moderator then you should PM Col

I sent it to Col. Look it doesn't matter. I am sure moderators & Col have far more important things to worry about than who is sending me rude PM's.

Anyway, back to the serial killer(s) in Ipswich.

Have I got this right? You can send a Private Message to someone containing whatever shit you like, admit it on the public forum and then take the piss out of the recipient in public. Or does it depend who you are?

I think it's been blindingly obvious that every now and again someone joins this forum in order to promote an agenda. We had 'kotkijet', 'jejquade' and a variety of others, whether it was animal rights issues under the guise of concern for injured horses, or tipping lines, or political propaganda.

The Moderators are Brian, Songsheet, Ardross and Galileo. I would venture that four people, who seem to be able to mount an 18-hour window of surveillance, are more than enough to check new members' posts and note who's out to make mischief or use the forum for their own ends.

I have very, very rarely asked the Moderators to take a watching brief over any particular person, but it's been as clear as daylight that one person recently has had an obsession with using the non-racing section to promote a particular line. I've referred to this publicly for some weeks, and I think no-one can have escaped the running battles fought by Warbler and me, other forumites, and to some extent by Brian, in trying to rebut some of the fact-free and personally insulting material put out.

I won't have it that the majority of this forum needs constant tending - we don't. There will always be a tiny ingress of new members who will need watching, though, so it's not fair that all of us should suffer a closure of any section (and I don't see how that can arbitrarily happen, unless Col deems it fit) because of the actions of the very few.

It's important (I think) that all new members are contacted by one of the Moderators - they could sort out between themselves who - to be reminded of Board rules and that they'll be chucked out if they bring personal insults and deliberate, constant rule infractions with them as part of their baggage. We should be like airlines - on guard for those who'd damage us from within, given the chance. I thank you!

Chucking people out for personal insults has to be a good idea, be it on the forum or via PM.

Er... then why are you on it now, LUKE? :brows:

The ghastly term 'chit-chat' encompasses a whole lot more than just riling each other with religious and political viewpoints. It's on here that many of us have found answers to questions, such as names, addresses, best buys on various items, and the very, VERY helpful responses to computer problems. I can't imagine someone in full flow about KAUTO STAR would appreciate another member chipping in - as there'd be no other place to do it - and ask why the Links weren't working!

As it is, topics wander off-course all the time as a natural evolvement of any discussion will, and it's then that perhaps a light bulb goes on about another subject, which can be put up on this section.

If you think having the very few sections we have on here is a bit much, you need to check out Final Furlong's, which has a section for every racing activity, including dogs. This is still a pretty tight forum, and I think the 'General Section' plays an important part in its overall effectiveness.

Many forum organisers fall into the trap of trying to make a place interesting but make it so cluttered that you ' cannot see the wood for the trees '

89% of my posts are on the general racing forum.Chit chat is only a sideshow even though the average Clivex post sends me into hysterics.

i know who you are refering to Krizon

I have refrained from responding to your regular personal insults. quite why you get so agitated and lash out when certain issues are touched upon, i would only hazard a guess at. But holocaust revisionists and 9/11 conspiracy theorists are not my cup of tea frankly and not worth my time

Its not my style to report posts but i have had to ask you to retract at least two so far

Frankly though, i cant be bothered with your type and will leave it at that
