Very nice from Snow Fairy. I reckon she must have run right up to her best as SNA and Nathaniel didn't look too far off their form.

If that's the case and he's not fully wound up today I think connections have made a mistake. He's not an Arc horse.

What for Nathaniel now then? Gosden was saying he should come on for today and that his target is the Arc. Has he no chance in that?

I think he's poor value. 4yo's who run in the big summer races traditionally find it tough at Longchamp. That said the 3yo's look poor this year so that gives him a squeak. But Orfevre and Snow Fairy are still trading at bigger prices and Danedream not much smaller. I think those three are more likely winners.

Fair enough. As you know I think the older horses have it all to do in the Arc in particular, but of the older horses I'd still give Nathaniel the edge over most of them. I was impressed with the mare today though.

i doubt Nathaniel has run his best on that ground though..be interesting to rate the race i suppose

I doubt he has either. He looked a little tame to me today. I'm sure there's a bit more in him. Whether it's enough for the Arc is another thing.

Looking back last year's Arc was some contest. The first six home have all won Group 1 races this year. I wonder if that has ever happened before?

i couldn't back Natahaniel with your money tbh Steve..not that you'd let me :)

on top of the busy time he has had i just don't see his grinding out style that of an Arc winner..he will get done for toe when they turn in imo

strong form,
unlikely to have happened, as in most years the first 6 dont stay in training next season.

Snow Fairy run to her best today,
she had her conditions,
I doubt the Arc winner run today at Leopardstown
all 3 had hard races

Orfevre is the one to beat
Danedream is the main danger (but I thinks she is not as good this year as was last one)
the last possible one for me would be an improved Camelot (very doubtfull)

Gosden was saying he should come on for today and that his target is the Arc.

Hard to believe that a horse having a warm-up would be given such a hard race?
Soft ground today was probably his best chance of adding to his gp1 tally and without a deluge, nothing remaining would be near as suitable.

Greatest day ever. Puma winning the Derby down in Shelnourne after topped it off!

But Cachimaidee lost by a nose....was the interference enough to have put her back that much?

Incidentally, she now represents Footstepsinthesand's first Group 1 winner.

Duntle was always holding her...and suffered interference herself all the way up the straight. It's the inconsistency of it that gets to me. Susiescot was murdered in the Curragh a couple of months back and lost a short head but didn't get it in the stewards room. Susiescot traded at 1/33 to get it, Duntle traded at 1/100 to keep it. The Stewards knew better though!!!

It must be pointed out I'm pocket taking here ....

In recent years I thought the only way you could get disqualified was if your jockey jumped apache style around the neck of the horse alongside and wrestled it to the ground.

On that basis I have to sympathise, Bridle, with your complain about the lack of consistency

Are the Irish rules on interference the same as those in the UK ?

It only won a nose and Chaichamaidee has always struck me as a "one run" horse . I thought it was fair enough. It will be interesting to see if Maria Niarchos will want to appeal to take the race off her close pal HRAC .

I had both horses backed on betfair with an in running lay of Duntle at 1.24 and 1.08.Betfair paid out on Duntle fairly fast after the photo finish result was called.Financially it made no difference to me who got the race but I'd say there were a few confused and bewildered betfair customers out there when there balances suddenly reduced about half an hour after the race.

Tks Aragorn. A great article and amazing the parallels between the two mares.
Ouija Board ran her grade 1s with a whole raft of jockeys, Fallon, Dettori, Peslier,Spenser, Murtagh, Bailey winning or placed on her. She flew almost 74000 miles, had 27 flights including one with engine failure! She had 22 starts for 7 Group/Grade 1 wins, 1 gr3, 1 listed and a maiden.
Snow Fairy has 7 Gr/ grade 1 wins up and counting. Her owner has a marvellous attitude to the game and intends sending her to be covered by Elusive Pimpernel when retired to stud; his fee is 1000 euro this year!

Isn't Patino behind Windflower who own him? Might have it wrong but I thought there was a connection, which would explain the covering.
