Irish Chasers

Think this horse is that good he would be competitive in an Arkle but the SunAlliance looks his race. Could see Ruby stalk this fella out the back and produce him late. What is so encouraging is he needs better ground to be at his best.

I'd imagine we will run Scotsirish in the Irish Arkle (January 27) and we'll send Glencove for the Dr.P.J. Moriarty Novice Chase at Leopardstown on Irish Hennessy Day (February 10)." - Willie Mullins

If he is as good as most think he is, he should account for Sky's The Limit

Entered in a chase at Navan on Saturday granger.

Really gutted about Glencove. Bar Kauto Star and Denman this jumps season holds little interest for me.

Sounds pretty dire in terms of his racing career...

Glencove Marina, at the head of the ante-post betting for both the Arkle and the Royal & SunAlliance Chase, has been ruled out for the season.

Trained by Willie Mullins, the six-year-old sprang to prominence for the Cheltenham Festival events by effortlessly winning a Grade Two novice chase at Leopardstown earlier in the month.

His big-race target had not been finalised and he was earlier handed entries in both championship events before disaster struck.

"He's got a tendon injury and he's definitely out for the season," Mullins told At The Races.

Mullins went on: "We are not sure how long the injury will take, I haven't spoken to our vet who scanned him but he is definitely out for all this season and maybe we'll decide to give next season a miss too.

"He appeared to be fine after Leopardstown because we were checking him every morning.

"He'd had a week off and he was back riding and doing small canters, but we just noticed a little bit of heat on the backside of his leg and was hoping against hope it might have been something else, but it wasn't.

"So we sent him off to get scanned and the vet told us the bad news this morning.

"He was the most exciting horse I've had for years, the potential that he had, he has come out and shown that this year over fences.

"I was really looking forward to him so it is very disappointing."

Jumped well today alright. They looked to go a hell of a pace in the ground, so Clopf was entitled to tie up after the last (O'Grady said he had been easy on him after the race as well). Even so, I would certainly not be going backing him for the Arkle myself.

I am Clopf's biggest fan!! But he did today what he has done all season over hurdles...go from travelling like a machine to empty in the space of a couple of strides. Couldn't have him as he looks like he has a weakness (mental or physical).
