I just watched the documentary from last night - pretty unsavoury stuff. Seems like people ..men and women never mind children....were scared of him and scared that no one would believe any allegations against him..which at later dates was proven correct when charges were dropped on the occasion he was accused publicly.

This is quite unsavoury just on its own..

With out wanting to be facitious about the matter you've got to give the man props. If you're of that nature you could just settle for being a swimming instructor. Jimmy shot for the stars and went on TV.

. My old man was it the Met in the 70s and told us back then what he was up to. It was pretty well known.

i wasn't overly surprised..he only appeared on shows with young girls for a start throughout his career

it just shows how having the type of public image he had was a massive stumbling block for anyone who wanted to actually tell the truth about him

did you watch the docu Clive?

Haven't see doc and don't know much of the case. Are the BBC guilty of a cover up similar to the Catholic church in ireland?

yes..they have only changed their tune today by the looks of it..a good % of the reported alleged abuse appears to have took place in their building by the looks of it

Its horrible isnt it...

Creepy Saville dropping his strides and saying "owz about that then?"

the most chilling image from the docu imo is the end of a clunk click show from about 1973 where Saville & guest Glitter go and sit in the audience..both of them sit between girls and put their arms round them..yuuuk

its probably after that show that the Star story above took place

Oh, I'm so glad that it wasn't just me being daft.

I remember seeing a photo of him in Woman's Weekly when I was about 12 years-old, and it made me feel unclean. I always had that feeling whenever I saw him on TV and thought that it was just me, I mean, how could I so dislike such a national treasure?

He just made my skin crawl. Sadly for all those poor girls he assaulted, I had reason to feel that way after all.

Interesting. I am compelled to point out the obvious similarities between the covering up of Mr Saville's activities and the covering up of similar activities at Celtic Boys Club.

Perhaps Big Jock did indeed, know. As they say.

It gets worse doesnt it? At least childrens homes and cruise ship captains took the action the gutless BBC couldnt

But why not exposed before? Because of our bloody laws thats why

During the Ryan Giggs (another creep) case most of the forum came down against a free press and free speech to protect "his privacy'. No matter that he tried to stick a criminal charge on an innocent party.

Im not sure why the tabloids didnt expose Saville before now but our overly strict libel laws (not strict enough for some stalinists) probably had a lot to with it.

The public bodies would not do a thing and this is where a free press can step in. They should do so without fear

The courts would have "protected his privacy" and countless more young lives were runied

Hmmm yes. Interesting

There were press stories a few years back that hinted strongly but clearly they couldnt take the next step.

I read in the Guardian that Newsnight had a piece on him but were advised to nix it as the Police were involved but didn't have enough to prosecute.

Jerry knew though:

I'm starting to think everyone knew:lol:..fair play to Jerry though for coming straight out with it

then again..most celebrities take stick about something from comedians..its easy later to say..oh yes he knew about such and such..the fact he'd slagged off most celebs gets forgotten...not saying thats the case with Jerry.

Bernard Manning said of Saville in his stage act.."yes he's a good bloke for charity is Jimmy Saville..with other people's f**kin money"

but Bernard didn't like many folk so i'm sure he has slagged most people off

God knows what he got up to when he worked in the mortuary, these sick people always find ways of feeding their addiction so pretty obvious why he chose to work there!!:(
