League of Neightions Competiton
In memory of what was a tidy little forum (Neigh) which had a competition section with competitions not found elsewhere I am suggesting a League of Neightions Competiton to be run over the five days of Glorious Goodwood (Tuesday 30th July – Saturday 3rd August) and the same five days at the Galway Festival using a similar profit / loss format to that used on Neigh. If you are interested in joining a team please indicate which country you would like to represent, say by the end of June, which will enable me to set a spreadsheet up if there is going to be enough interest. Teams would not need to be finalised until a couple of days before.
Proposed Rules
The competition is open to members of the Talking Horses and Final Furlong forums. Daily entries can be made on either forum.
One selection each day in each race at Glorious Goodwood, Tuesday to Saturday, and the same five days at the Galway Festival with one of your selections at each meeting noted as your nap. Selections must be in by start of first race each day at each meeting and no alterations are permitted thereafter.
Please check here for non runners before placing your selections
http://horses.sportinglife.com/Non_Runners/.
A virtual £2 win bet will be placed on your nap at each meeting with a virtual £1 win bet on your other selections. Stake money will not be included in any returns but losing selections result in losing the virtual stake. If your selection is a non runner, the virtual stake is placed on the favourite for that race, however joint or co favourites will be settled accordingly. For the purpose of this competition any Rule 4 deductions will be ignored.
Forum members will form teams representing all or some of England, Ireland, Wales, Scotland and the Rest Of The World. There will be no limit on the number of players in each team but each team must have the same number of players. A bit of flexibility as to which team you represent may be required to achieve this and it may be necessary to have A and B teams for a country if over-subscribed. In that event a draw will be made to decide which members are in the A team or B team and so on.
Each team can elect its own captain or I will make a small draw to decide if preferred unless there is a volunteer. If a team member fails to post selections on any day, the captain may make selections on behalf of that player or alternatively elect to use his/ her own selections. If a captain fails to nominate which method to use, his/her own selections will be the default method used for settling purposes on that day.
The winning country will be the one achieving the highest profit or smallest loss over the five days.
