Poor Valseur. Snatches defeat from what looked like a certain victory

looking at where on her own has finished..i'd say he has sat too near a strong pace on rtr..that looked like a grand national

I just posted on the Gold Cup thread that RTR surely goes to the Ryanair now. Not just because of that showing, but also because he would have the advantage of Cooper on his back rather than Flanaghan who just doesn't seem to be able to understand where to put his horses in the big races.

i've defended Cooper on here..and recently he has looked ok..but that wasn't his finest hour imo..when they turned in..he found that spurt that took him to the front..but on top of being too near the pace throughout..that spurt emptied him imo..that was needed later. looked a gruelling race

i think the winner was best placed..would probably have won anyway if its any consolation to Walsh followers

Wouldn't argue with that but what of Ruby showboating? because that's what he was doing. In a race of that value you don't sit there like your Lester!!!
9/10 you get away with it but with one to jump and the opportunity to go 5 or 6 lengths clear before the last you have got to take it.

How many times have we seen a horse 2 lengths clear not falling but clouting the last and losing the race.

Had he kicked for home on the turn he'd have been well clear and had he not fallen would have certainly won but where he was had he stood up he's still have lost.

-45 today..similar ground to sweeps hurdle day ..better than Lexus day when it were slower at -55. soft/hvy type of ground

should work out really..there is lot of bad ground about..a lot worse than today

then again..Cheltenham good ground will look like a road in comparison to most of this seasons surfaces

Granger

Do you know why Leopardstown have some races as 3m60y and some as 3m..because they start at the same place ..ie todays race started at same distance from first fence as the lexus..i can't see how there can be two different distances when they start at same place...I assume its rail movements..but even before they started putting the proper distances up this season they still had some in the past at both distances

Todays Irish Gold Cup had a race finishing % of 90%..compared with about 100% for par..they crawled home basically

ignore that query..it is just the rail movement..just checked back..could have sworn that 60yd job had cropped up before they started putting up exact distances..according to past hennesseys it was listed as 3 miles. i Had it in mind they had a 3m1f distance there at some point..which i thought was the 3m60 one.

Great to meet the lads again, Take a bow Granger, Slim and Colm.
As Leopardstown Inn now managed by Art's nephew sponsoring the Hunters Chase we might be able to wrangle a few tickets for next year ?
( Bound to make the price with interest behind the bar if they play ball !)

Great call to put up Bleu Et Rouge, it was a joy to witness even if I had no bet.

Willie did not half show how to place a horse with Blazer , and for JP as well.

A good race as second and third were well fancied and ran well.

Great ride by Katie H in bumper again on Sunni May.

Pity about You Must Know Me; he ran some race and poor jockey and connections gutted.

Carlingford Lough one of the few horses to win a race twice at much higher SP second time around.

(Assatis in Hardwicke Stakes must hold the record, 4/11 year one and 50/1 year two )

IG fans and Ruby the most bruised after the day.

No guarantee Cheltenham will be quick ground yet but I do hope it is better than todays ground.
