There is a famous story aboult a lad who appeared on School Around The Corner, a favourite on Irish TV in the 60s. Primary schoolchildren were interviewed about their lives and times and were always asked if they had a 'funny incident' to relate.

This particular young boy told about how he had seen a horse pulling a cart fall into a big hole the Corporation had been digging in the street. A crowd gathered but nobody was able to help the horse and when a vet arrived he decided the horse would have to be shot.

"They shot the horse in the hole?", asked the interviewer.

"No, they shot him in the head".
