Luke Comer

Interesting coincidence that news broke four days after he/his company had sponsored the €600k Irish St Leger?

The article expresses puzzlement about what went on, given that only two of the 11 horses with failed samples ever won a race. It points out though that Comer’s usual strike rate of 2-3% rose to over 11% for the AW season of 2021-22. The samples were taken that autumn.

Comer called 17 expert witnesses to testify at the nine day hearing and the IHRB called a dozen of their own.

Comer has previous disciplinary issues. In April 2017 he was fined for refusing to allow inspectors enter the yard and the following month he failed to return 15 horses in training, and that July he submitted to pressure from the authorities to employ an assistant trainer.
