Mint chocolate chip ice cream

It's going to get almost summery in my neck of the woods next week and, being a creature of seasonal habit, I'll be buying some ice cream and waffle cones to make my own decadant ice cream cones.

I want some seriously hardcore minty ice cream packed with chunks of proper chocolate - none of your chocolate "flavour" or chocolate "sauce," and if doesn't need to be too, or at all, creamy, it's all about the mint.

I'm accepting recommendations.

I'd also like to know if there's such a thing as orange chocolate chip ice cream because, if there isn't, there should be and I'm seriously thinking of taking Spike Milligan's "Please help this man become a capitalist" route and opening a Satanic Mill-style factory to produce it, while enslaving (sorry, "employing") Walsworth to do the work of ten men for an apprentices' minimum wage, while I rake in the profits and gorge myself on the product.

Thanks in advance.

One winter years ago we had a power cut that lasted over a week. We had to eat all the ice cream that was in the freezer. Me and the kids sat under a duvet on the sofa freezing cold ( my husband had disconnected the gas as he was working on it) and ate it. It was mint flavoured. Have never touched any since. The power everywhere else went back on but, after several days it was as if we’d been forgotten.

I strongly recommend Aldi's Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream.

They might not sell it down south but their Scottish Tablet ice cream is also extremely indulgent and their Honeycomb not far behind.

I actually visited an Aldi today - they didn't have any.

I was tempted to ask the staff if this was because they'd sold it all to a Scottish geezer called Maurice, but I thought better of it.

It might be a regional thing, Ian.

The supplier is Strachans, a Scottish company that produces upmarket ice cream. Maybe they only supply within a limited geographical range.

I tried to add a photo but for some reason I was getting error messages.

I've made do with ALDI Giannis and Tesco waffle cones - Sun out, French windows open, cracking card at Leoparsstown coming up, spring is here!

I'll give the ALDI Gianni's a 6/10 (ok) but the Tesco waffle cones get an 8/10 and I'm happy to make them my go-to cone for the summer.

I'm thinking of checking out M&S Food Hall next as the local forecast for the weekend is decent again and somewhere in Hampshire there's a seriously hardcore minty litre tub of mint chocolate chip ice cream with my name on it! 😂👍

Tough day on this front today - M&S Food Hall didn't have any, ditto LIDL, but I showed commendable flexibility by purchasing a very acceptable Raspberry Sorbet from the latter instead.

One empty tub later, used up on ten waffle zones, 33/1 and 25/1 winners at Aintree and Ian is an even happier bunny than usual.
