Murtagh at Ballydoyle

How many will he win?

God that's like saying "what would have happened if we didn't save the banks"!! WE WILL NEVER KNOW. so it's an easy argument to make. How in gods name do we know how many classics moore will win. You say it is best to be freelance, but only if your stables produce the winners. How often does Stoute win an Ire/UK classic? Or Ed Dunlop? Then compare to APO'B and let us know as we can only go on history and not the future as we don't know who Moore will be riding for in the years to come, whether Stoute will still be training etc etc.

You are making my point for me. Now please answer, how many English Classic winners have Ballydoyle had in the last 5 years?

When you actually try and think of a replacement (and a likely one) it is really pretty difficult to come up with someone. Makes me think Murtagh will still be there next year.

Agreed ~ the type of job that would drive a man to drink if you ask me.

I'm not political, so couldn't give a rashers, but thought the coverage was a bit OTT. His advisors should be sacked. Clearly he'd had a few pints, there was a bit of music maybe and he had to raise his voice to talk to people. I'm the same way myself after a wedding/night out. But I'm not always hungover. So a bit unfair to say a hoarse voice means you are hungover. What he said was pretty coherent. But he shouldn't have been let do the interview with a hoarse voice and three hours sleep.

PS for those across the water that mightn't have heard, our Taoiseach is now being compared to Boris Yeltsin!!

Not to mention the fact it was his round at the time...

You've lost me again, you keep saying Moore will ride more classic winners where he is than with Ballydoyle. How do you know that? Do you read tea leaves? If so, what are the lotto numbers on Saturday as I'm sure I'll win it at some stage in the future :p

On the statistical question, I'll leave that to Gal whose the real master of Ballydoyle.

That's surely more than Stoute or any other yards Moore rides for. Stoute had Conduit a few years back but not sure what other classic winner he had since North Light. So I still don't get how G can say he will ride 1 classic winner a year when history does not suggest his yards produce that. So he will have to pick up spare rides which will be hard enough to come by when his trainers are likely to have runners in each classic.

PS I personally wouldn't be bothered about classics but how many group 1s the jock will win. Singspiel, Pilsudski etc would be nice horses to be riding even if you didn't win a classic with them. Ditto for RVW, Lillie Langtry, F&G etc.

I don't know anything but I don't see how he is at a disadvantage by not taking the "top job in European racing". He will get top rides in the classics regardless so therefore he is above the Ballydoyle job because it cannot offer him anything extra

Correct...and Godolphin have had two. If Classic winners is the sole barometer..

You are not factoring Frankie being left appear on "A question Of Sport". I'd rather ride Sue Baker than a Derby winner any day.
