Hi all, I'm new to the board. I'm a keen photographer and living in Newmarket I get some good opportunities to photograph horses. Here's a picture from last year's Guineas of my favourite horse as he takes up the running.

I like this shot of him looking mischevious while Yarmy tries to walk him to the stalls. :)

This one proves once and for all how intelligent a horse the great Black Caviar is. You can clearly see how she is waiting for the picture of a little green horse to appear on the road crossing lights. :D

footnote: BTW there didn't look to be too much wrong with her coat here the a few days before the Diamond Jubilee. It was shining like a newly split conker.

Gorgeous pictures! Ive just started an online course (well at the start of the year) and if I can take some half as nice as these I'll be happy :)

Hi Brochdoll, that sounds interesting. I must admit I struggle with the technical side of digi photography a bit. A dedicated course seems a great idea.

Although I've lived in Newmarket for most of my life and have always had an interest in racing I have only quite recently begun to photograph the horses.

There are a few of my more usual sort of photos on here:

Good luck with your studies. I look forward to seeing some pictures in the future.

I did begin a degree course at evening college a few years back. It was supposed to be a three year course but after the first year they moved the course over fifty miles away and it was just untenable for me. I tend to just muddle through tbh. I've never really thought about it in career terms so I've only myself to please.

Your pictures on the Aintree thread suggest you've already grasped the basics well enough. I'm sure you'll benefit immensely from the organised approach, i.e taking the time to learn properly. Good luck with it all. :)
