On December 2nd my mother and I will be getting a train to Birmingham to see lovely George Michael at the NEC. We'd like to have something to eat and drink beforehand in Birmingham. Can anybody suggest somewhere reasonable within walking distance of either New Street or Birmingham International station please?

I havent lived in Brum for almost 10 years now, My job has taken me to 11 addresses in 7 years and, while I try to get back as often as possible to see Paul and my parents it is not very easy. I havent eaten out there in the city centre for about 6 years and I dont remember where I went then!!!!

As far away as you can get I should think - and avoid the men ( not that you and your mum wouldnt!!) all brummie men are lying, using scumbags....
Christ so whats that make the women ? i think i'll give Brum a miss for a night out.

Birmingham is a dump (I live there), I wouldn't even bother eating out around but I hear there is a nice italian place near china-town.

So is the advice to eat out at my favourite place in Milton Keynes before catching the train to Birmingham, ensuring we spend as little time there as possible?

There are some nice restaurants but very few in the city centre, bar the usual chains. Chez Ami is good and they do a lovely paella. A couple of good Chinese restaurants are within walking distance too - the Golden Dragon is good and fairly priced. It is only a 5 minute walk from the train station.

I would recommend Moseley for some nice food if you are up this way again though. Nathaniel's is very good and is one of a few top class restaurants in the area. It is about 4 miles from the city centre.

trudij, what have I ever done to you??

Did you not say " all brummie men " ?

By the way I am delighted to say I have no connection with Birmingham at all !!!
