So is the advice to eat out at my favourite place in Milton Keynes before catching the train to Birmingham, ensuring we spend as little time there as possible?
Absolutely Griffin - as you may tell from the other answers, the place is a hole!!!

Brian and Trudi are spot on....clever people!!! :D

Bank is ok, yes as are a couple of other places around Brindley Place.

There is nothing wrong with Birmingham. It has all you could ask for in a city. Safe to say that I have spent longer there than most (all?) other forumites so have a more accurate picture of it than some on here.

5 years in Liverpool, 2 in Lyon. Other than that 25% of my life, visited another 11 countries for varying amounts of time and gone out with people of 4 diferent nationalities. And it isn't a dump.

What on earth do you mean by the real world? Is Birmingham a Truman Show style fake world?

Ah - you well travelled shrewdie, you!!! Classy places too - Birmingham and Liverpool, luverly. We'll have to agree to disagree on this one then - Birmingham is a dump.

Very true. The food there is very good, and reasonably priced too.

Agree to disagree if you like, Shadow Leader, but you have no point of reference I am afraid having spent next to no time there. Prejudice against cities just because you are from the country is not a reasoned argument. Hardly a shock.

I've spent far more time there than I wish to PDJ - you yourself should know that! There are many lovely cities as well, Birmingham cannot be described in any way as lovely - it is a complete hole with nothing to recommend it.

As far away as you can get I should think - and avoid the men ( not that you and your mum wouldnt!!) all brummie men are lying, using scumbags....
Trudi - Ii think you should reconsider the post, it is one of the most offensive ones I have read on here and since you and SL are good friends I think it WAS aimed at PDJ and you should apologise. I also took offense. if I posted that "all women are lying cheating using gold-diggers" (not my opinion but an example of offensive) I would expect an avalanche of complaints so dont be surprised by this post and maybe think before generalising to that degree

You may think what you like petal - as far as I am aware PDJ hasnt taken offence at it,and is aware that it wasnt aimed at him - and im sure he wouldnt want his brother to start a fight on his behalf!!

Ive been in relationships with 5 Brummie men - all of which turned out to be the aforementioned lying, cheating, using scumbags. Im aware that it is a sweeping generalisation - and with the amount of men that reside there Im sure there must be a couple of good ones - they are just very very well hidden.

I dont see the need for an apology for something that exists in you imagination only - only one from you to me for an unfounded accusation.

Oh, the paranoia!!!

Interesting to see that you seem to think PDJ fits in the "lying, cheating scumbag" category also...:P

I used to cover the midlands (BRUM, COVENTRY, WOLVERHAMPTON, WALLSALL, STRATFORD ON AVON, etc etc) on a regular basis but always used a doss house???? In Coventry to sleep over (but then the Cardiffian's ex workmate kept a pub not far off the centre) so I stayed with them on a few occasions.

I am going back a few years but in the cathedral precinct, there was a Chinese restaurant that was 20yrs before its time!!It was just brilliant, a concert piano being played as you walked in and the food was brilliant as well... one of the best that I ever experienced at this time..........

But never had contact with BRUM women or COVENTRY women either, as I was then married...........

I dont think that at all. I saw a post from someone who decided for whatever reason to attack Brummies. As Paul and I are both from there I took offence, especially as the break-up you 2 had was never civil and trudi is a friend of yours. I could think of no other reason why an offensive post like that was put on here. I suggest that you stop abusing each other and grow up, that goes for you as well Paul as I reckon most people on here re fed up of the pissy comments
