After some recent discussion it has been decided its time for some new blood in the moderation teams, so......

If you would like to be considered to be a moderator then please leave your names below

If you would like someone to be considered as a moderator, then pm them and ask them if they could ask their name to the list

If you are a current moderator and would like to stay on then leave your name below

I'll leave this open for a couple of days

After that I will either make the decision or open it up to a poll, depending on the amount of people who want to be considered.

Before you put your name forward please bear in mind you really need to be on the forum at least once a day & remember everyone will hate you

I put myself forward on the basis im admin on OHR, i have no favourites, i love swearing and being racist and don't like to be called gay, i also can't spell, so pick me for a free and democratic forum. If your've not heard of me im The Fox and im notorious.

Ps. Don't all jump at once to post please, then i might have a sniff. :P

I vote Krizon or Colin wether they like it or not norty
Yeah im of the same belief. Im thinking Griffin would also do a fair job.

Helen/The Pro

I think you need to PM your favourites and ask them to put their own names forward for selection.

We have discussed this at length in Mods Only before today and Kathy is quite right . Please don't just nominate people on here without their agreement . We were concerned that nobody should feel under any obligation to do the job simply because they have been put forward without their consent.

Also please only put yourself forward if you are serious about doing the job. I assume for example that The Pro's post is not a serious application.

I am putting myself forward.

No favouritism. Heated arguments are welcome. If you get offended beyond the bone, don't worry because someone will always come to your rescue as there are enough people who hate other people on here to cover every eventuality. Heated arguments are what made this forum great in the past. The handicapping arguments, the dosage arguments, the capital punishment arguments etc. Brilliant and the place was so alive. Look at it now, it is pathetically boring and predictable.

I can't remember the last time I posted in the horse racing forum with something meaningful to say about the sport. Why should I bother? The place is dead. Maurice, Steve etc are all basically gone.

I'll moderate this place back into shape. Swirly was great fun. Gone.

Those who know me beyond the forum know I am a fair and genuinely good guy. Those who don't know me beyond the forum will get a pleasant surprise if I am moderating. One thing, there will be no restriction with regards to what people can say - so long as it isn't libellous.

Let's save this place and bring back the glory. Grant me moderation powers and everything will be coming up Swirly.

I would love to do it but as my new job is a travelling head lad position i dont think i will be able to get on everyday like at the minute.

But i vote Phil Waters.

Did Col not mention the massive wage thanks to the new adverts?

Oh well count me in then.

Phil's own nomination gets edited that's gotta be worth a vote on it's own. Class.
there was a reason for that - and not anything bad

In the interests of fair balance however it should be mentioned that Phil Waters is back on Moderator control for repeated breaches of forum rules .

A truth he evidently didn't like being told as I have just had to edit out yet more personal abuse from him twice and when he did it a third time I deleted it .

Moderators - isn't it a prerequisite that nominees are automatically disqualled if they've been banned or warned? It'd seem a bit weird, to be honest, to have moderators who have already breached the rules they'd be trying to uphold!

I've already checked these folks: GARETH FLYNN, GRIFFIN, and WARBLER, and I'm going to contact a couple of other apparently rational and reasonable members to see if they're up for it. With all the bitching and moaning that's gone on for at least a year, I'm also hoping some people will put their action where their words are and nominate themselves. So, Gareth, Griffin, and Warbler - would you please add your names to the list?

Thanks, Aldaniti, but I did a bit last year and left because of the acrimony involved. Don't need that again, but hopefully the next batch will all do the job very evenly and fairly, without a repeat of the imbalance of moderating input.

"Moderators - isn't it a prerequisite that nominees are automatically disqualled if they've been banned or warned? It'd seem a bit weird, to be honest, to have moderators who have already breached the rules they'd be trying to uphold!"

If this is the case then I am not sure that I agree with it.

It is down to the interpretation of the Terms and Conditions of this board and the implementation of those Ts & Cs surely.

On past evidence different moderators have interpreted and implented those Ts & Cs in startlingly different ways.

And that is not me saying that I wish to be a moderator and would be disqualified by the foregoing qualification.

I feel too many on the board have an issue with my posts and in return I would have issues with them and be unable to moderate with equanimity. And we don't want moderators like that do we!?

There seems to be a problem with my inbox, maybe something to do with flood control, but I don't seem to have got any of the requests asking me to be a moderator through.

I will, of course, graciously, accept.

Count me in then. As Kathy said before, if I can keep Mr GG and four kids in order you lot ought to be no trouble at all

Opps you assumed correctly. :)

All the best everyone involved.

Great to start seeing so many nominations - all of whom I think are worthy contenders!

I wonder if there are about 6-8 names put forward (or possibly more), that it may be worth Col considering doing it on a rota system of say 3-6 months at a time. This would give the new moderators an opportunity to learn the ropes and will possibly avoid any burn out.

Just an idea....
shrug::

:D :D I like that, Mel.

If you are serious about wanting to be nominated, I will surely do that for you!!

MELENDEZ FOR MODERATOR , you know it makes sense.
