So WTF was he doing going right-handed at Kempton in a Graduation Chase over 20f for his Cheltenham prep, when he could have been running in the Kingmaker tomorrow?

It's a good job that Henderson has pals with plenty of coin, because the way he campaigns his horses is a joke, and it's hard to imagine any other handler being indulged to the extent that he is.

I can only think the trip today was the deciding factor in terms of them thinking about a crack at the JLT. Which again makes zero sense considering how competitive that race looks.
 
The sensible option IMO would be to wait for the 2m Nov G1 at Aintree.
 
Henderson is enduring a nightmare couple of seasons after an Indian summer. Struggling to keep the good horses sound and the promising ones seem to not be delivering.

I know jack sh1t about training racehorses but a few weeks before Josses Hill made his debut over fences he was quoted as saying he still hadn't even schooled a fence after shin (?) problems but if that was the case wouldn't you give him an outing back over hurdles first to get him back race-fit ?

God knows what is going on with Beat That this season and Bob's Worth - in and out last year - seems to be simply out this year, but there's clearly something very wrong at Seven Barrows and I really hope they can turn it around.

Unthinkably they're fast becoming a yard that I can rule out all but the select few runners from.

You guys don't know anything. Did it not occur to to you that maybe Nicky ran him over that trip because he would have to keep running for 2 1/2 miles to catch up with UDS in the winners enclosure:blink:
 
I'd like to think a summer schooling might help. It can't be ideal that he didn't see a fence till September.

Big weekend with King's Palace out tomorrow for hopefully a straightforward prep.

Apache Stronghold will carry my money in the PJ Moriarty. He lost more ground jumping left in the Drinmore than he was actually beaten by VL and the price differential between the two is excessive.

Did it not occur to NJH that the Pendil is run over 2m4f less than a week after the Graduation Chase?

His command of the Programme Book is frankly hopeless, for someone who has been Champion Trainer in the recent past. Compared with Nicholls, he comes across as a complete bumbling amateur.

Are you on drugs?:lol: Some trainers will pop a hurdler over 3 fences say that'll do send them chasing and they will jump like they have been doing it all their lives, some you can school every day and they will still get it wrong. Long Run had so many session with Breisner his fee must have cost more than Nicky's annual training fees and the thing still got it wrong. Like some people horses are a dumb as dogshit, lack confidence whatever they are not machines.

Horses like Simonsig would have bone disease like he has no matter who trained them. Nicky has more horses than most is in the limelight more than most and his horses are better than most so you notice it more when one or two go missing

Beat That has deliberately been kept off the course and given time to grow into himself and all things considered ran a great race last time out. Bobs Worth they thought about giving him a run over hurdles but he'll now go straight to Cheltenham all being well. You should get out more :)

If you want to start your betting season over 100 winners down then by all means run a pen through Nickys' runners I wish you luck with that one.

They are not all one of the most promising young horses in training.... now are they?

The sensible thing to would be to give him the easiest possible race they can not go chasing Kings Palace round Cheltenham and I think he's a certainty to go for the 4 miler because of that reason.

That's something I have backed up with hard cash by backing them both in their most likely races.

You on the other hand have done your cash and you are getting emotional about it and not thinking straight..............I hope:lol:

poppycock. nickys back team aren't strong enough. He's got millions of pounds of horse flesh in the yard and delivering poorly. to say otherwise is daft.

You don't have a scooby do you? What hasn't he delivered......Sprinter Sacre heart trouble, Simonsig a bone disorder? He's lost his best two horse through sheer bad luck through no fault of his own. Try taking PN's top two horses out of the equations and you can say bye bye to nearly 1/2 million in prize money

That's the conclusion I've drawn too. Vautour will be better when stepped up to three miles next season, and he won't look out of place against the experienced three mile chasers who are also pretty average at the moment.

Other than him the Henderson pair haven't held the form down, and of the others only Garde La Victoire has really done anything. He's thrived for deep ground but you wouldn't touch him on typical Festival ground.
 
Average field but did it very well and he is a very solid jumper. Can't be called a hound anymore either, Kempton showed he could battle.
 
Tremendous stuff from Coneygree. Always had a soft spot for this horse but his preference for give is always an issue for Cheltenham.
 
If it's good ground Id be worried he'd get done for toe. If it was good to soft he has a massive chance. After all, that performance puts him roughly in the high 160's, maybe even low 170's.. Could be a vintage RSA a unless he goes gold cup, which I think they might.
 
surprised they're thinking gold cup. he's had 3 chases. let him follow the natural path and go rsa. he'd be fave.
 
Agree JamesRB. Fantastic performance today, Gold Cup is over 3 furlongs longer, but I dunno, he didn't look to be stopping.

I'd like to see him in the RSA though.
