Hope you’re right as am on AP at fair prices for the RSA and to win any race, but not a fan of what I've seen so far. Hopefully it’s the Might Bite route to festival glory…
Five O'Clock doesn't take up either of his weekend engagements, but is entered over 3m1f at Punchestown on Tuesday.
A trip he needs to finish in the top 4 at some point to qualify for the NH Chase. I suspect if he takes up the engagement on Tuesday we know where he's heading. Willie will usually start his 3 mile novices over shorter.Five O'Clock doesn't take up either of his weekend engagements, but is entered over 3m1f at Punchestown on Tuesday.

I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt for now Perp. He's pretty inexperienced so it may just be down to maturity. If he shows signs of heading off to the stables next time I'll start worrying.
My concern is moreso that he was edging right at a few fences which is far from perfect in a fast run RSA.
Can you really see him winning an RSA?
He would do well to finish in the top 5.
Latest Exhibition better than his last run?
I couldn't believe Conflated's price last night. I took 6s at 365 as they were the first up and then Powers, Victor and the machine's sportsbook somehow offered 10/1. Do they have to price up so many races they don't bother looking at each horse's profile?
The RSA has a few fancied horses in, most notably from Ireland. I'm not letting that put me off from fancying Shan Blue a bit though.
He hammered Snow Leopardess the last day when giving that horse nearly a stone in weight, and Snow Leopardess franked the form big time next time when winning a 25K handicap chase at Haydock last month. That's now a handicap chaser to follow.
Shan Blue is two from two over fences, and could run in the novice chase at Kempton on boxing day, which he is currently favourite for with one firm.
I am considering having my first anti-post bet for the festival on Shan Blue. His last win came over three miles so you'd think the RSA might be the right target, but like I said the big guns from Ireland are at the head of the market.
Anyone have any opinion on Shan Blue?
He's 25/1.... anti post rules would apply all that, plus three months is a long time in horse racing, it's a bit of a stab in the dark, but 25's could also look a decent price if he does the business on boxing day.
Rather than boost Shan Blue’s credentials based on not much more than his proximity in the Ballymore (and duffing-up no-marks in early-season novices), is there perhaps different angle to be explored - to wit, questioning exactly what Envoi Allen beat in that race, given the somewhat disappointing efforts of the placers (who at one point looked to have the new Pegasus in a bit of bother)?
I appreciate this is a somewhat heretical question, but of the faves for the three main Festival novices chases, isn‘t perhaps Envoi Allen the weakest of them, rather than the strongest?
