Novice & Juvenile Hurdlers 2019/20

Wonder how many horses lose a race but still end up being worth a fortune more afterwards? As usual, I closed my eyes at the last fence but was shocked to realise he did almost fall.

Could see that happening two strides out. Gutting for them as the horse is a monster!

I watched the end of the race on facebook as I had my eyes closed when it was actually ran, and, seeing it from the side, he put in another, short step just before taking off. Would that be due to the horse/jockey or what?

Had a few winners after but the Goshen fall is only now sinking in. There might be some who give out at Paddy powers specials but giving my several stakes on Goshen back as free bets is hard to begrudge. It was my biggest stake ever and thankfully only some with other books.

Must have been a sickener. I know how I felt after Annie’s fall and wouldn’t wish that feeling on anyone.

Few beers in here now after pulling a sickie at work. Reality is that’s the National Hunt done for another year. And by my early calculations I’ve ended the festival about £80 pound up. Been backing anti post since November and punting this week, makes you wonder whether it’s worth it. Anti post dockets that look pretty are just that. Notebook 25s, A Plus Tard 25s, Ilikedwayurthinkin (my biggest loser by far) at 25s. Then the ones I didn’t even get a run for my money for.

We go again next year, but in terms of backing anti post don’t think I’ll bother.

Goschen is some machine. I’ll take a proper look for myself in a few days, but it’ll be interesting to see what mark he gets.
