Punchestown 2012

A lot of the horses who like the ground this week are likely to be over the top

This makes for a punting nightmare

Punchestown can be very hit and miss. It's just too late in the season. The fifth day is too much. It's a great place to go on a nice day but I would be watching myself in terms of punting.

Is it just me, or is Aintree way out of Punchestown in terms of quality now? I don't think it used to be the case so much.

It is and it's a shame because Punchestown is a far fairer track with generally better jumping ground. Hobbs in particular would have been better running Fingal Bay here than on a trumped up greyhound track.

Interesting that RP preview's (Sweetman & Ward) go for 6 of the 7 (predicted) favs tomorrow.

Trifolium / Sizing Europe / Sir Des Champs
3 odds on shots, all past the post???

Impossible to see past SDC.
While not impossible to see him getting turned over, you'd think Trifolium will be the fresher and should take care of Alderwood.
SE could be over the top but I wouldnt like to back against him personally.

Similarly to pre-cheltenham it's difficult to see past these odds on favs.
What will hindsight prove.....

Plenty of horses will run at two of the major festivals, but hardly any will go to all three. The fact there was an extra week this year between Cheltenham and Aintree meant that more chose to go there rather than Punchestown.

Too lazy to check this for myself. What is the prizemoney like between the championship 3 mile race in Aintree and Punchestown and the other races of a similar nature?

I'd be worried about backing Rubi based on the race he had in the Ryanair

That run was on similar good ground to which he failed in last year's RyanAir.
On proper soft ground he is probably the best jumper of a fence in Ireland, and I just can't see him beaten.

I'm not taking away from the horse, I like him alot, its just that I think that race may have taken alot from him

Sizing Europe. I mean the Pubchestown festival. He's been beaten on all four starts.

Not sure about Louisville on the ground,

I'm listening to weather forecast and sticking with horses who have handled it in the past. It's leading me towards Benash, Jim Will Fix It and Burrenbridge Lodge at big enough prices

Trifolium is a bigger nap than Sizing in my view...
