Road to the 2025 Champion Hurdle

The New One and MTOY used to run in the Bula (International Hurdle) and last year it was a prep race for Lossiemouth but to date has only produced 2 Champion Hurdle winners. The timing of it isn't great if it turns out to be a hard race at the end of January for some reason. The Punchestown Champion Hurdle winner has won the Champion hurdle 13 times and the HG 12 times The

That's interesting , I've only been looking at runners of the most recent renewal of the Punchestown Champion Hurdle heading to the following Cheltenham Champion Hurdle.
From that view I count , since 2000, 37 runners from the Punchestown Champion Hurdle heading to following Cheltenham Champion Hurdle, and of those 7 have won and 8 have placed only. Of the 37, 12 were the winners of the Punchestown Champion Hurdle and 7 (58%) won at Cheltenham

I wonder how the other 6 Cheltenham Champion Hurdle winners you've counted performed in the Punchestown Champion Hurdle, and what the total number of runners were heading to the Cheltenham Champion Hurdle in a later season to when they ran in the Punchestown Champion Hurdle

Some of those mentioned won the Champion Hurdle trials more than once I was counting the times they had won

for instance Punchestown Champion Hurdle was won 12 times by horses who also won the Champion Hurdle

I listened to Rich Ricci on the unbridled show humming and hawing about leaning towards the Christmas Hurdle but then mentioning the race Annie Power won around the same time. Didn't come across as being confident of taking on Constitution Hill... we've seen so many of these matches not happen this is probably just another one...easy excuse is they want to wait for the big one and not give her a hard race when she can pick up good money elsewhere..

No bookie has put up Xmas hurdle odds as they think 1 of the 2 won't turn up imo

If not Kempton, Lossie will go to Chelt but Kempton I prefer

I don't mind him at all..Trainers and owners at least talk to him. Latest zI heard him say Nicky Henderson has pulled the plug on anymore updates on Constitution Hill and we can all think what we like..he will answer for himself on boxing day. So no sense in looking just have to wait and see

The doubter who said he should be retired or won't run in the Christmas Hurdle must be feeling very silly at the moment, Nicky has confirmed super sub Sir Gino goes Wayward Lad. He has to be ultra confident that not only will Constitution Hill turn up but he will win the Christmas Hurdle

come on now

stop reading these reports

I heard about them on social media hours and sometime a day before the Racing Post or Sporting life reported it and neither has said it is 100% definite whereas I hear it's cast in stone.

I don't have the same access as the guys at home and have no idea when or how they get the news.

I see now the Sporting Life are now quoting the Sun without 12 hours later actually committing themself to a definite.

Only trying to help

How come Sir Gino doesn't hold an entry for the Wayward Lad?

The cynical side of me (which I usually don't have so could be extremely wrong), says, Sir Gino left in Christmas Hurdle as Constitution Hill won't run and that will leave the clash of Sir Gino vs Lossiemouth.

MORE than happy to be proven wrong.
