With Treve setting out today at Saint Cloud with the aim of a third Arc in October. Seems a good time to start this thread.

Many hands to be played between now and then. Karpino is certainly one on my shortlist.

Saw Karpino when he won at Krefeld. Conceded a **** ton of ground early doors in that race. Can't quite remember why as I was half cut on dodgy German lager.

The road to the Arc?.....what is this a plea to get the flat season over and done with asap.

All I have to say is we wus robbed.......Frankel would have won the Arc a minute:D

Now we have a bunch of Bengal lancers chancing their arm trying to keep up

My best advice? Try a little tenderness..if that fails try seducing her with a bottle of Barr's Iron Bru

You been on the sauce again Tanlic :D

Emmm I may have been treading water at the 1 pole.

They may well indeed be staring at her behind again.

Lovely performance today. I hope she shows up and smashes them all again in the Arc.

I've taken a bit of 35 on the machine about The Grey Gatsby. They all look short enough at the head of the market and as long as it isn't heavy and his trainer campaigns with the Arc in mind (big if I admit) I think the test would really suit the horse.

Japanese 2000 Guineas/Derby winner Duramente out for at least 6 months after suffering fractures in both front legs.

(Racing Post)
Duramente, winner of the Japanese 2,000 Guineas and Japanese Derby, will miss at least the next six months after suffering fractures in both of his front legs.

Duramente, a 14-1 shot for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, has sustained distal fractures to both of his front legs necessitating six months off the course. He is set to have surgery on both legs next week.

Trained by Noriyuki Hori for the Sunday Racing Co Ltd, Duramente was seen as the leading challenger for Japan as the country seeks to win the Arc for a first time following impressive victories in the first two races of the Japanese Triple Crown.

Provided the surgery is a success, connections are hoping Duramente will return to racing next year with a March or April comeback date mentioned.

The Arc is also off the table for Epiphaneia, who injured a suspensory ligament in his near fore earlier this year and had been a 16-1 shot for Longchamp.

Trainer Katsuhiko Sumii was forced to abandon plans to run in the Grade 1 Takarazuka Kinen and said no decision had been made on the five-year-old's future.

not quite as snug as some are suggesting but a pleasing enough prep run. ran a bit keen.

think jack hobbs at 10s isnt bad. seems they think he'll be better with some give in the ground and not sure golden horn turns up for this.

Looked snug enough.

Agree about Jack Hobbs.

Look forward to seeing the German horse next weekend.

Big fan of Jack Hobbs but last time I said Arc I was told Gosden had ruled him out.

He took a step in the right direction yesterday showing he's still improving but Treve is such a monster Jack may have to wait a year

He must have read my post a month back lol

I still think he has more scope than Golden Horn and in the long run I can see him doing fantastic things as a 4 year old.

Not a great believer in collateral form but that win on a line through the 2nd and the 3rd indicates he's improved yet again.

Ladbrokes offering 10/1 for the Arc as crazy if he does run I can't see him being out of the 3.

John Gosden must be fairly confident of winning the race with one of his.

I assume he rates Golden Horn higher than he did Taghrooda who ran 3rd in last years Arc.

But 2 Arcs behind her and yet another win yesterday holding up the form with Flintshire, Treve looks a worthy fav.

She is a worthy fav but a mare peaking for three straight years for the biggest race on the calendar? I want to take her on at the odds.

Think Euro makes a valid point about the lilelyhood of Treve winning for a third time. I'd love to see it happen but I will be backing against her nearer the time.

Can't really see why winning 2 Arcs would count against her winning a 3rd?
Wouldn't be too many that've tried, but the modest-by-comparison Youmzain garnered 3 runner-up spots in succesion, not too long ago.

I would need to look more closely to confirm what I think, but im confident (or content) that this will be a classier arc if Golden Horn, Jack Hobbs and Free Eagle turn up than the two renewals she has won thus far. I reckon she will have to be a once in a generation type of horse...of Frankel proportions....to win this again...and the chances she you will fall short against better opposition.
