This shows just how close the wild fires are to the racetrack at Santa Anita! I cannot imagine how scary it is to have horses there at the moment judged by how rapidly and randomly the fires are being spread by the Santa Ana winds. Training has been cancelled at present (you'd have to think that the air pollution is going to be horrendous for the horses (as well as people) there.

It was only back in 2017 that wild fires hit the training centre at San Luis Rey Downs (near San Diego) which left 8 barns destroyed and 46 horses were killed. I just pray that they are able to ship the horses out in time if it gets even closer.

A good friend of mine who I shared a house with when I lived over there, lost her entire house and all their property in Pasadena yesterday - utterly devastating.

While a racecourse and horses are s sad loss they can't compare with the loss of the 16+ human lives. Nor can you compare a racecourse building to the loss of thousands of homes leaving people with nothing. Was listening to Mel Gibson who's home was completely destroyed..he managed to get a few items like passports out but lost paintings old books many valuables but he said he had no choice but accept his home where he lived when growing up was completely gone as we're the homes of his neighboursany lost everything they owned...Mel put on a brave face and while he accepts people will say he can afford it but imagine how he really feels losing a large piece of his life.

Apparently his chickens survived how does that happen ? Whole house burnt to ash yet the chickens survived and were still laying eggs.

That miracle aside, truly terrible scenes over there.
