Sizing Europe

One of mine too, he's such a handsome horse.

His Irish Champion Hurdle win was a monster performance and he was very unlucky to break down at Cheltenham with the Champion Hurdle at his mercy.

He was also robbed at Chelthenham in the Champion Chase when the last fence was dolled off. In my stubborn opinion.

Will never forget his Arkle victory. One of the biggest buzzes ever.

Happy retirement fella.

Sizing still in training -one last race?.
Finian's Rainbow has an entry at Killarney on Sunday - still trained by NJH.

Many years ago Peter Walwyn brought a Riverman ? filly Huahinee to Tralee for a 2yo maiden as she had an aversion to starting stalls and there were no stalls in Kerry so the Seven Barrows Unbeaten in The Kingdom record gets tested again at long last.
Great news though Nick Morden I am sure did not expect to see Simonsig race here.

Chase form: 111113223121211211111221244167

Jumped 350-plus fences and completed every time.

So many great memories -the novice hurdle win at Newbury, the Greatwood and walking in with HdB,the Irish Champion Hurdle romp, the Champion Hurdle blowout when I was on my knees, the Arkle and his Champion Chase win and second to Finian's Rainbow. As a punter he gave me some tremendous highs and lows.

Many happy memories of seeing this boy at Cheltenham. Wishing him a happy, long and healthy retirement.

Can't claim he ever made me a fortune but he was one of my favs in his early days

I first spotted him when he beat Big Zeb over hurdles as a novice as a potential Champion Hurdler.

He looked all set for second win next time out but fell when cantering all over them at the 2nd last. I backed him then at 20's or so for the Champion Hurdle.

Recouped losses when he won the Greatwood and by the time he'd won The Irish I was well in front then it all went wrong.

To this day I reckon he'd have hacked up in the Champion but for pulling a muscle late on and being virtually pulled up.

Got my fingers well and truly burned when Hardy Eustace beat him on his return.

When he went chasing I think I might have backed him twice for small money in his early days chasing as I wrongly never really trusted the trainer.

The fact he had run him over 2m4f bugged me for some reason and those mad runs over 3 miles put me right off.

Then he only goes and puts up the best performance of the Festival and storms home in the QMCC

At least I won a few bob when he won the Champion Chase Irish style which was a great performance all thing considered and a fine bit of training.

Not a great money spinner for me but I got a lot of pleasure out of his awesome win in the QMCC which was a joy to watch.

Well deserved 22 wins and a well deserved retirement

Yes, what a great horse and good to see him retire not too long after we saw him able to produce winning form.

My story with Sizing Europe is a bit like Tanlic's. He always seemed to carry my money when he placed rather than won.

One of the greats. Kicked myself for not backing him a few times but did manage to for a couple including his QMCC.

Happy retirement fella

Coming back beaten but unbowed to the second-placed spot after Sprinter Sacre's QM.

His run in the Boylesports.com Champion Chase was a great testament to how good a horse he was.

The only horse while Sprinter Sacre was at the top that got the great horse out of second gear and he was 11 years old when he did it.

There were plenty of people laying him when he won the arkle and then the champion chase. I think part of why i enjoyed his career so much was how he proved a lot of people wrong. I lost the buzz of watching him the past season or so but glad he is retired now. What a horse. One of the few on a personal level i got right in this game.
