1. St James Palace
2. Irish Guineas
3/4 Sussex/2000 Guineas

Although i can see why it may be hard to rate him high for the Irish Guineas, but the manner was very catching.

The Irish Guineas was far more visually impressive, but given the ground (importance surely lies more in the fact that it was all against New Approach) and the fact that he almost certainly came on a good deal from the run, his run at Newmarket was of pretty similar merit.

I accept that both those factors (particularly the latter) are difficult to quantify in terms of ratings.

The Irish Guineas and Newmarket races were the two races this year that Henry was ridden correctly.

In fairness to Murtagh, the Sussex didn't go to plan at all and he had little choice but to find himself in front as soon as he did.
