The 2011 2-y-o thread.

MAGIC CITY, so impressive in winning in fast time on debut but beaten on his second run, is 4/9 to get back to winning form in the next (6.30) Windsor.

Plenty of other winners in the field and it won't be easy.

Turned over by Mark Johnston's BANNOCK.

The favourite was given a lot to do by Hughes; and it seems that Hughes upset some punters in the first (not riding out vigorously enough) didn't see that race but Chaparse said, so it must be so.

Any information from Rosewell obviously comes with a pretty serious health warning, but I'm told their representative in the maiden tomorrow Fastidious is apparently very highly regarded.

Make of that what you will!

That Bolger horse looks really good. To win coming from there and going the longest route possible on debut is something.

LILY'S ANGEL unbeaten in three starts and a good winner at Chester last time runs in the Hilary Needler at Beverley this evening. Second in the betting at the moment to Mark Johnston's Vocational, runner up to Miss Work Of Art on her last run at York.

BANNOCK and MAGIC CITY renew rivalry in the National Stakes Sandown 6.30.

Hughes heavily criticised by some for giving the Hannon horse too much to do last time at Windsor.

MAGIC CITY even money to get back to the winning trail, beaten twice since his very impressive and very fast debut at Newbury in mid-April.

the sire stats on slow ground are really poor for MC Colin

Yeah, I saw your post on the other thread, EC1, but it is difficult to forget that Newbury run.

it seems every year that Newbury throws up a really fast 2yo early doors over 5f..then they seem to not follow up..there was a similar one last year or year before...he's met good horses since but like you say..i'm definately a layer at the price on the ground though

I'm having a small tickle on Pyman's Theory he wasn't that far behind Miss Work Of Art in a good race at York and wouldn't have to find much, just hope she likes the ground.

from live reporter for the RP

Trainer Tom Dascombe is peeved at the rain at Sandown for Pyman's Theory - named after the Racing Post's very own James Pyman - who runs in the National Stakes at 6.30.
He said: "I can't believe it is not soft ground. It's not ideal for the filly but then everybody else would say the same."

in the form you are in i couldn't say you are wrong though:)

Well done, Chef.

You were right to go against Magic City, EC1.

Whether the ground was to blame or not, he disappointed. Time for me to forget that Newbury run, I think.

Five previous winners contest the Class 2 event at Beverley 3.45.

GABRIAL a very nice winner on debut at Chester, second has been beaten since, is the 11/8 favourite at the moment. I'm hoping that CRAVAT can regain the winning form he showed at this course earlier this month. His last run at York can be ignored as he lost any chance when hampered at the start.

Yes, I thought so, too. Very lithe, rather than just light. Looked very professional and ran straight and true.

I'm interested to see how Little Ted runs in the first at Goodwood as he's by the same sire as our syndicate horse Simpson Millar.

LITTLE TED came 4th but the RP was fairly complimentary, and he did pick up enough prize money for a good meal out! Why were 2 y.o.'s running in a Seller? The winner was bought in for ten grand, ffs!
