The 2011 2-y-o thread.

So now we've had all of the top juvenile races of the year who does everyone think the best 2yo has been? I think Harbour Watch is a bit special and if I knew he was going to get there he would be my bet in the guineas. I think he would have won the middle park and if he had would be a much shorter price than he is. I also think Dabirsim deserves more respect but I doubt he'll come to our guineas. Unlike most it seems I thought his Lagardere win was an exceptional performance.

Is the question "who is the best 2-y-o we've seen?" or "who is going to win the Guineas?"

I haven't seen any of Dabirsim's races, so can't comment; Camelot's performance at Doncaster was full of style but the content may be questionable; Top Offer was impressive in his only race and looked to have loads of scope.

The Dewhurst looked to be the strongest field and I don't see why Power should be thought to be better than Parish Hall.

I've managed to find one of Dabarsim's races on Google and even though he won impressively the field didn't didn't look that strong.

So I'm left with PARISH HALL as the best 2-y-o we've seen so far.

I assume he means Wading OTB.

If Parish Hall is the best 2yo we've seen this season Frankel will not be hard pushed to cement his position as a legend next year.

I thought the Dewhurst was rubbish. I didn't think the Middle Park was all that either, which is why i'm so sweet on Harbour Watch.

Nice piece of placing by William Muir with STEPPER'S POINT, has been running in Class 5 nurseries for approx. £2k., wins a Listed race in France this afternoon and picked up near enough £24k., surprisingly he started 2/1 fav.

Interesting debut in the first at Leopardstown this afternoon.

DROPS, the first foal of multiple Oaks winner, ALEXANDROVA. Dad, KINGMAMBO, is not bad as a sire, either.

I know she had a few fans on here but the first foal of Mandesha has just debuted at Saint Cloud, the Smart Strike colt Mandour finished second to the Aga Khan's Kesampour in a 1m Maiden race.

Encke was impressive at Newmarket yesterday and in a very decent time. He may go next for the Racing Post Trophy. I was surprised to see him quoted at 33/1 for next year's Derby and I've backed him accordingly.

2 questions:

1. Does anyone have any news on Encke?
2. Does anyone know where Gus is?

I failed to back him first time out this season when he won a Sandown handicap. That's "handicap".

I then backed him at 11/1 when he was pipped on the post at Goodwood.

I backed him in the Voltigeur.

Did I back him in the Leger? What do you think?
