The 2025 Belmont Stakes

Indeed:
To return to the race, this obviously left Sierra Leone and Flavien Prat in an impossible position.

Prat - possibly shaken by the incident - actually didn't seem to do a lot about that down the back straight and, not for the first time tbh, he's left Sierra Leone with an absolute mountain to climb on the turn for home where he also came widest of all.

Great opportunistic ride from Johnny Velazquez - completing a coast-to-coast big-race double after Fierceness - to prevail with Antiquarian, but no way in my book has the best horse won the race.

With the 3yo Triple Crown form now tainted by Journalism's defeat against an older horse, Sovereignty might have a job on against Fierceness and Sierra Leone in the Breeders' Cup Classic.

What colour is he? They were talking about brown horses with white tails on racing radio the other day and they reckoned that a lot of them were quirky.

I really wish I had named this thread "The 2025 USA Racing Thread" now - still, there's always next year.

Three races at Woodbine tonight and FWIW my USA data model bets 1/4 Notable Speech 4/1 Win For The Money and a million bar two.

Notable Speech is 8/5 according to The Morning Line, but that's the stuff of fantasy and I expect him to be well odds on.

Buick having a mare -wouldn't be rushing to take the 1/3 on Notable Speech.I think Peter O' Sullevan had a rule about avoiding jockeys who were going against them.

Notable Speech wouldn't be the best 2,000 Guineas winner ever, but he had his ground tonight and he was different gear to that lot.

Baeza, brought with a well-timed, sweeping, run by the magnificently-named Hector Isaac Berrios, gained a decisive and deserved win in the Pennsylvania Derby.

He'd bumped into a right pair in Sovereignty and Journalism in the Santa Anita Derby, Kentucky Derby, Belmont Stakes and the Jim Dandy, but he'd run well every time and he made no mistake here.
