The 2025 Eclipse Stakes

He may be the only Ballydoyle horse to give Fields Of Gold a race of it at Goodwood, especially on quick ground.
Artaius did it for MVOB , coming back to mile in Sussex for his first run over a mile since Beresford Stakes having been placed in a 12f French Derby pre Eclipse victory in my youthful days.
Unless of course TLIW does the business today , I could see Delacroix Sussex bound; he is 10/1 currently.
I’d love it if he went to the Sussex as I’m going.

RVW - another with terrible feet! I remember seeing him at Santa Anita and thinking goodness!

I visited Coolmore years ago. The guide wasn’t amused when I asked, “How are his feet?” when we got to RVW’s box. “Have a look in—he has four of them,” was his retort.

This pace map also suggests a messy race and Delacroix has outsprinted them rather than outstayed them. It was probably more of a mile race than 10f.

I believe gorgeous George's feet weren't great. Probably explained his strange running style. Maybe something passed from generation to generation like flat feet in humans.

Coolmore have so many group one horses to juggle with God knows whose going where. Lion in winter probably Sussex, delacroix juddmonte, whirl Nassau ,Minnie hawk Irish oaks Jan brugheul King george with maybe Lambourn. If delacroix re routed to Sussex love to see whirl at York. She's a tough cookie.

Probably but I still think Ombudsman can reverse the form if freshened up.

I'd say he'll never have a better chance of beating him than he did yesterday he's had first run by quite some way and on your reading of that pace map that only adds to the fact he shouldn't be catching them from that far back. That's just plain and simple a huge performance from Delacroix. As for Ombudsman I say he's peaked at Ascot and I'd doubt he'll put another performance like that at any other course.

I won a Rip Van Winkle baseball cap
I was wearing it and someone in the supermarket kept staring at me
eventually down another isle he came over looked at the cap and said "Oh, I thought it said RIP you W****r"
One of my fav horses. The juddmonte when he came late to beat twice over etc was brilliant. I screamed him home that day.

I imagine keep TLIW and Henri and Camile for Deauville and French Gp1s for easier ground unless weather changes here.
They want to find out how good Field Of Gold is and will throw everything at him to beat him as they did to Sea The Stars.
Rip/Mastercraftsman /Fame and Glory did their best to soften him up without success but they can always buy into the victor knowing his worth. Delacroix for Sussex especially if fast ground .
Lambourn needs a 10f/10.5f Gp1 win so has York agenda with Jan B on King George duty.
The fillies have plenty filly only races to keep them happy, best keep them away from devaluing any stallion prospect.
Now only the Irish Derby runner up to sort out .....

I make you wrong on all counts!

Juddmonte must certainly be delighted so many call the race the Juddmonte when it's actual name is the International Stakes - seldom has a sponsorship been so effective.

Coral have spent 50 years trying to get everyone to call Saturday's race the Coral-Eclipse, not the Eclipse - they must be green with envy! 😂

Thanks for clarifying - I always politely silently swerve posts that doesn't interest me in the interests of conflict avoidance (maybe you should try it).

I've always thought of it as the coral eclipse. I'd say it's been a better race in the last few decades than the juddmonte.
