The 2025 Longshot Thread

Kool one 50/1 Fred winter chelt Tuesday
I have put this one on the Fred Winter thread.
Looks a strong stayer and will hopefully get a strong pace to aim at and storm up the hill and pick them up late on.

Caesar Rock 5.20 Tuesday 66/1.
A wild one this, but he ran second in the Up The Yard Stable Staff race at Punchestown to Sir Gerhard , his only flat race ever.
Labaik and perhaps Carlito Brigante benefitted from Charity Race runs before the Festival in past years.
Mouse Morris , from his Edward O'Grady days knows how to get one ready .
Still a maiden over fences after 19 runs look for at least 6 places ew !

Gonna throw an ew dart at Gala Marceau in the Mares. Yet to recapture her high class juvenile form, but that 66/1 would look very big, if she did. Quite lightly raced since them days.

Bumper - Shuttle Diplomacy 50/1, 4 places - the winner of last year's race got an RPR of 137. Shuttle Diplomacy is a second-season bumper horse and they tend to improve 10-20 when they go hurdling. If SD can improve 10lbs on his 126 RPR in his second season he could be placed and if he finds more than that he could win.

in d 'or 520 33/1
i know,i know Mr David Maxwell.considering Venetia likes to win or have horses in the kim muir for amateur jockeys you would have thought she would have run this in that race.

Static in the Boodles: 95 on exchanges, 66 William Hill 5 places. Beaten a neck by Liam Swagger off levels and now gets 2lb. Showed he handles Cheltenham when beaten by Triumph fav, last run I'm hoping he wasn't off, sold and sent to Donald McCain a few days ago and Maggs claims 5 here.

A quiet first day for me
3 in the ultima
Grandeur Dame took 25s
King Turgeon took 25s
Guard your dream took 66s
3 in the Fred winter
Quantock hills took 20s now around 16s
Kool one took 50s now 40s
Static took 66s now 50s
All small each ways.
Best of luck everyone.

Same for myself, in terms of a quiet day.

I'm having a sporting interest in a few races. I don't know all the winners, and if my each way lucky 31 returns a profit there'll be a large slice of luck involved anyway.

I'll up the stakes a bit as the week goes along, as I've got stronger fancies as the week moves on.

For me, come Cheltenham there is no such thing as a quiet day!

I might let one or two races go without a bet but every other race is like a Saturday highlight and worth getting stuck into.

I usually bet as much in one day here than I do in a month so if I lose it will be heavy but with the ground not being anywhere near extreme I will be shocked if I don't at least get close to covering myself each day.

Best of luck DO 👍🏻

Not having a selection or sporting interest in every single race today, qualifies for me as a quiet day!

Best of luck DO, I'm sure you'll land a few blows during the week.

Ultima, Zanahiyr 40/1, 7 places (Sky) - I think one or two others ave mentioned this already and I want him onside too. He'd have the winning of this if he could just translate his hurdles form across and he's technically a first season novice chaser. Elliott is just the boy to have laid him out for this all year and Millar's 5lbs claim won't do him any harm.

Someone mentioned Static (Fred Winter) earlier, I think?

I've joined in (50s , 6 pl). It's very high up the RPRs so probably overpriced and the claimer takes a few more off.

We’re in the blocks, the starter’s got his gun raised and we’re all a’tremble. The very best of luck everyone, may your accounts explode under the weight of winnings.
Amen to this.

The only way I could feel any better about life is if I didn't have chronic back pain (again) but I just know come 1.20pm the adrenalin will get me through.

Rock my way 5.20. 25/1. Trainer not a stranger to have winners at Cheltenham, think its been layed out for the race.will appreciate ground conditions. Also opened at 50/1,been a steady flow if money for it in last 2hrs.But very hard race to find the winner.

I'm actually feeling really chilled so far. Nothing to do with indifference. I just reckon I've given it due diligence and reckon if I'm right about one or two I'll end the day in front. If not I'll see where I went wrong and hopefully put it right.

I won't be using the ground as an excuse, though.

(Bent jockeys, trainers, bookies, God, Margaret Thatcher (same thing to some on here, I know), etc, they WILL be on the receiving end of rants.)

A couple on Thursday take my eye.
I'm on Jane Eire in the Mares novices at 50/1. Unlucky not to be unbeaten over hurdles. Possible there's plenty of scope for improvement. Sean Bowen booked.

I do think Bob Olinger is overpriced in the stayers. Favourite may need it softer + Bob is 3/3 at Cheltenham. 25/1.
