The 2025 Royal Ascot Wednesday Thread

I think the Queen Mary is a particularly interesting renewal this year.

There might be a few related-contingency doubles with Gstaad running onto True Love, Zelaina has eased, "Time Lords" may like Spicy Marg, Society Kiss and Cardiff By The Sea plus USA raider Lennilu looks promising.

Should be another cracking day - good luck all!

Ah yes. Nothing like posting contingency doubles after the first leg. Another cracking post.

Have to say I was worried that True Love was not going to be quick enough having watched her run second to Gstaad but when I saw her at the start, she blew me away!

Is there a bad timing thread? Off to collect the primary school grandkids from school now (then entertaining them - will it be in order to sit them in front of RA when we get back?)

Nothing like watching the presentation for the second and your second cousins name gets read out.... and there she is. I'm guessing she is involved with Carmers! Nice of her to tell me..... Actually made up for her. She's been involved with Irish breeding and bloodstock for many years.

Cinderella's Dream didn't look that happy on the ground early on. But that was a taking finish by the winner.

Yes. She won't be the last horse this week that simply won't go on it. I'm surprised it finished second, she didn't want to let down on it.

She picked up better on the rising ground but down the back straight she was very much sitting back off it.

Also when she's running down the hill on the back straight, her stride is quite short compared to the others. It was the same when she was cantering down.

Ryan Moore is having a mixed bad this week. They went stupid fast there. Continuous might be put down he was so exhausted a furlong out.

Well Ombudsman has certainly improved. AOB went too hard in front....41mph at one stage

I backed STF each-way (got 6/1) rather than back LA ew as I had it between those two but I'm so glad I did as I couldn't believe what Moore was doing. By all means let Continuous make the pace but don't go chasing it.

Ruby made a good observation in saying maybe the plan was to suck the others into going with them but they didn't rise to the bait. Instead they made Moore look a fanny.

That really really hurts, I knew LA was very beatable over this course and distance the only danger to Anmaat was possibly the Frenchie, possibly having Crowley in the plate or possibly some twat leaving their previous form behind. The latter did me. Very upset.

Ryan had ridden the winner twice previously; he knew what he was doing .
Quick going was the difference .
Winner's dam is a Juddmonte cast off that was rated in low 70s and sold for 25k as a 3yo in training.
Another bargain buy.
