Don't buy that. Don't have the stats in front of me but there are not too many shocks and mst winners towards head of market. Plenty run in the voltigeur and Gordon and a reasonable guess can be taken on pedigree and /or style of running if only having run 12f

I would guess that just as many horse go into the derby and even the guineas with less trip credentials and that's before we get to the nature of the course

I love the leger. One of my fav races of the season. He fact that anoraks hate it makes me like it even more

The Epsom classics now are beginning to reassert themselves re form - the front three in the Oaks have all run very well since and the Derby winner , second and third too .

The Derby second ran 4th in a race full of boats after running like a drain in the Irish Derby - hardly very well, quite the opposite..

Talent, Galileo Rock and Libertarian - all placed in the Leger .

ROTW beaten only by a whisker in the Niel

I don't see Leading Light, the Oaks winner and the Derby third and IrishDErby runner up as boats .

Runner up as boats .

Ignore the mug punters trolling.

there are no "boats" at gr.1 level, i've been in a field in ireland and seen a ******* boat and the term used in gr.1 status is ******* embarssing.

I don't think you understand what being 'placed' means..

If you think finishing in the top 4 behind boats is good form, well, then we clearly disagree..

I don't like it because it's a hard race to analyse with so few of the horses having raced at the trip. And I can't agree with your second point, the race is littered with losing animals who were the best in the race - Alleged, Sea Moon, Rewilding, Camelot, most of the field that Masked Marvel beat.

Not sure I understand this comment. These horses may have been the best horse in the field if it had been run over a shorter distance, but they were not the best horse in the race because the form book tells us they were beaten. There was no fluke or nothing wrong with Alleged the day he was beaten by Dunfermline (in fact it was a very straightforward and quite thrilling race), he was just outstayed by a horse who was better than him over 14f+. Didn't Rewilding's subsequent running tell us he was probably better over a shorter distance.

Surely that's the point of the race. It's run over a bit further than the Derby.

Was it reminiscent of this scene.....

Leading Light entered for the arc, we knew! get in, trading a bit off as we speak. absolute monumental touch if he wins, mortgage sort of money.

He will do well to finish in the top 12.

I doubt it, probably one of the best 3yo's aidan has ever had based on his times at home and on the track, just his preparation doesn't allign well with other greats.

He'll probably be a pacemaker on the day tho and not many will pass him if he kicks for home early.

A few have come out of the woodwork and it looks like quite a big field now. Still 24 potential runners.

It would be one of the worst most misguided supplementary decisions I've ever seen. I know they've got plenty but even so, could buy all sorts with £100k.

Based on what? He's closely related to Motivator and unlike him, this fella has speed and stamina in abundance and to be honest with you I don't think he truly stays 14-16f but gets through on class whereas 12f is his perfect distance.

So if Coolmore owned Tiger Cliff he's also be going for the Arc instead of the Ces presumably. Some serious lack of intelligence at their planning department this year.

st leger must be the worst pointer to the Arc

off top of my head..only one horse has run in it and won the Arc since the 70's..Alleged..has any other leger winner placer ever won the Arc?

why would anyone support a horse from the leger in the Arc..seems odd to me
