Yes pleased for Willie and hope Invitation Only is ok. For me result is a bit flat with the first 8 in the betting not in the first three!

Huge run from BDM and Anibale Fly once again.

Fingers crossed for Invitation Only - didn't look good.

always a fair chance it would happen this year. very deep race with question marks over the principles.

race was a bit of a mess early on though.

I look forward to taking closer look at the race in due course but my fear as it developed was that it was falling apart from early on.

Native River not getting going early.
Bellshill departing.
Bristol held up out wide.
Might Bite fiddling every other fence and ballooning the occasional one.
Thistlecrack never in it.
Kemboy losing his jockey.
etc. etc

The immediate instinct is that it's moderate.
 
Super ride by Townend and he jumped so well . Might Bite bless him clearly can’t breathe and should be retired . Game stuff from the other principals CDO certainly looked to have a touch of the Wayward Lad about his finishing effort .Amazed to see Bristol de Mai so close .

Presenting Percy unsurprisingly was clearly undercooked .

The horse that finished third last year was beaten as far this year.

Tend to agree - connections of Topofthegame and Santini will consider it wide open.
 
I go to Leopardstown every Christmas to see the best horses ; I missed the Champion Hurdle and Fred Winter winners at Limerick and Gold Cup winner at Tramore.
Pity Mick O'Toole was not around to enjoy the moment.
Delighted for WPM and Paul who won on Espartano for us as an apprentice 10 years ago.

Agree, was a below average renewal. The RSA

was top drawer and I would expect the

winner next year to come from that race.

Santini was 33/1 on Wed evening.

I'll have a wee think about that. He ran well the other day considering his prep.

I half-expect MB to do something better at Aintree but will worry about that nearer the time.

I imagine Santini will be trained now for the Ladbroke ahead of the Gold Cup.
