The Stayers Hurdle 2017

McManus also potentially has Kotkikova for the Stayers (or the Mares, or possibly the Ryanair, or maybe even the Gold Cup)

Jessie on Jezki

All being well he runs next Saturday at Navan over two miles,” said Harrington, the race being what was run last year as the Follow Navan On Facebook Rated Hurdle.“The main aim is to go back up to three miles but he’s got to start somewhere as he was due to run over three miles at Christmas and he just had a little setback so he couldn’t run.
“The two-mile race at Navan looks ideal for him at this stage.
“He’ll be entered in the Champion Hurdle and the Stayers’ Hurdle.
“We’ll look after Navan but I’d expect him to run between then and Cheltenham, probably in the Red Mills Hurdle at Gowran Park in February.”
It would be great to see Jezki back at Cheltenham, either in the Stan James Champion Hurdle or the Sun Bets Stayers’, and he would form part of a strong Team McManus - one that you feel got even stronger at Punchestown on Saturday afternoon.

Uncorroborated Twitter rumour that UNWIMH may be out of the race. Exchange market suspended - doesn't look good for him.

don't know about Harry but the market was scheduled for suspension today as its the entry stage.

As a holder of a 20/1 e/way docket , I wish you would stop this scaremongering especially while I am enjoying a nice lunch on the croisette.

getting to that time of the year it's hard to know what to make of such drifts. some can be portentous as grassy says but you also get arseh*les messing around on betfair in the hope of making a few easy quid.

Jezki's hurdling was very slick yesterday, which is encouraging. Definitely a case of so far so very good.

I was never his biggest fan but he really impressed me when asked to pick up and I have no hesitation in backing him on the day

When handicappers come shooting up the ratings like Unowhatimeanharry the worry is the bubble is going to burst.....Some like him and Keiran Burke's Hunt Ball handle the rise and win at the Festival but then they are in the big time and many fail like Hunt Ball did.

So far so good for Unowhatimeanharry but beating Lil Rockerfeller is along way off what it can take to win a Stayers at Cheltenham. He's a fair bit to go to reach the level Jezki did to be as short as he is IMO.

Of course should WPM decide to run Faugheen then it will become even tougher again

Of course what would happen then is Unowhatimeanharry would drift as would Jezki as would everything......

I know how I would feel if I took 9/4 about Unowhatimeanharry and then WPM says Faugheen is running and he's 4/5 and suddenly Harry is a 9/2 shot.

This quoting horses with a run should be banned and if they don't have a separate book without the likes of Faugheen they should be forced to

If he runs on the 29th would anyone expect 11/8 about Petite Muchoir if faugheen is 4/9 on the day?

Lil Rockerfeller has been OR160 in his last three runs and RPR162 in his three runs before last time.

He's consistent and genuine. Yes, he's maybe six or seven pounds shy of what you'd want to see in a champion but Harry beat him very easily by over four lengths, looking value for double that. That would take him up to the required level before allowing for any ongoing improvement.

Thistlecrack is better than that as was Big Buck's in his pomp.

I have Jezki on 167 for his CH win and 168 for his Aintree win so he'll need to be as good as ever on his comeback from injury to give Harry a race.

I assume McManus plan is very simple, MTOY to repeat the Christmas Hurdle pace setting for Yanworth in CH. And in this race Jezki & Harry to battle it out. Whether he considers Jezki still a CH contender remains to be seen but I imagine if Faugheen gets back Jezki goes staying route just like after the`15 CH. This is a serious owner not a RR type, wants to win a race sends his best available for that one.

exactly, a serious owner with a plan, has horses with lots and lots of trainers understands the value in that, respects his horses best conditions and opposition that he may encounter so that he gives the best chances and if he has 10 that match that rule he runs all in that particular event, he doesn't fool around getting emotional and flaky sending one here one there

who cares what you heard or not before you sad old bat

and fwiw(not much for you but still) its obvious I was referring to ONCE he has a plan, not IF. Once he knows Faugheen runs or not, he'll decide if Jezki goes CH or not, regardless of Yanworth and MTOY also in there.
