Tingle Creek Chase Sandown Park Sat Dec 4th 2021

Mullins must be laughing his head off at the lack of opposition.

Negra is a nice horse but he has a deficit of 25 lengths to make up to even bother Chacun.

Granted he won the Shloer Chase but beating Politilogue and the in and out dual qmcc winer simply doesn't do it for me.

I reckon our Patrick has a steering job on his hands and 11/10 is massive

All in job for me.

Watched the replay of punchestown again there recently. Isn't the most likely conclusion that Chacun only barely stays 2m? I think he will have them cooked before the last but he will need to.

Any evidence that CPS can run his race in UK?

Just double-checked the form for the race.

I have to say, if the real CPS turns up then 11/10 could end up looking like Christmas arriving four weeks early.

I might just check on Saturday morning the betting without him.

The QMCC might indicate that but if it were the case why would they send him to Sandown which also has a very stiff uphill finish ?.

Of course there's no solid evidence to suggest he does get the trip on a stiff track

Energumene looks a more likely stayer on paper having won over 2m4f but he stays home for the Hilly Way

I think if they thought he was a doubtful stayer they wouldn't have wasted money entering him for the John Durkan over 2m5f.

Maybe they found a reason why he never went through with it at Cheltenham?

Several times at Leopardstown and even at Punchestown, his final furlong is his least impressive. Not sure if matters if he has his races run (and won) before the final furlong.

In almost every race run by any horse, the final furlong is the slowest (or, in the case of NH races when nobody wants to go on early, one of the slowest).

Most races are at their fastest from the three-pole to the one-pole or three obstacles out to one out.

in the William Hill Champion Chase he did a Sprinter Sacre just after 3 out when PT said go and the race was over in a matter of strides.

When they have ability like that after the last becomes very unimportant.

Held up he'd most likely sprinted from the last and still won eaily but you then take the risk of clouting one in the closing stages

The horse has such a high crusing speed and if he takes it up at the pond fence on Saturday the race is over

Notably slowest - those behind gaining.

Thats the advice that got him beaten at Cheltenham. Wait til the turn in and kick. After leading at the last he finished third.

I thought he was cantering all over them 3 out and thats when he could have stolen a few lengths but that aside I don't think the horse was 100% on the day the way he stopped.

We should know more after tomorrow on how well he stays.

The ground may be good but that will lend itself to a very fast pace and whoever wins will need to get every yard

I don't know if it will. If there is a horse upsides him (a length down even) at the last, the theory will be put to the test.

Superb ride by Bryony. She doesn’t half get horses to run for her. And what a reception she got too!
