Top Irish Jump Races

Wherever Gaelic Warrior run at the Festival he wins.

Granted he will have to polish up his jumping a tad but he could be the best novice chaser we have seen in a very long time.

His biggest problem is Willie Mullins indecision: Last season he was talking about running him in the stayers hurdle now he's talking about dropping him back to 2 miles.

No doubt Patrick who I have always thought is even smarter than his dad will keep him right.

If he goes Arkle I would be happy to support him

It hardly qualifies as a "top Irish Jumps race", but I'm deeply interested to see how my latest cliff-horse Il Etait Temps gets on at Thurles today.

He's not particularly scopey, so I'm not entirely convinced he'll make a chaser, but he's undoubtedly classy and - assuming he takes to fences - I'd hope he can take high-rank as a novice now that he is being upped in trip. He has always looked to me like he'd benefit from intermediate distances, and I've had a few quid ante-post at 33's for the Turners.

Re Gaelic Warrior, hard not to be impressed, but we've seen him smash lesser opposition to pieces before in minor events. We should learn much more if/when he runs round Leopardstown over Christmas, but impossible to knock him at this stage.

Agree it was mightily impressive but I’d be more concerned about GW’s continued tendency to jump right. Even at right handed Punchestown the SL comments in running mention he jumped right at a few and as we all know this tendency cost him the Fred Winter

Agreed

Classic Getaway beat some decent chasers today and I kind of want to claim a form boost for Minella Cocooner who has shortened recently for the NHC. Can't wait to see him.

Hatton Grace on Suday should throw some light on Impaire Passe's Cha,pion Hurdle chances

Teahupoo is a fair animal at this trip and if he's in the same form as Gordon Elliots other horses it could be interesting

The Saville Chase looks to be a cracker with Gallopin Des Champs and Fast Flow
being joined by Gerri Colombe 13/2 to 3/1.

A year ago I would have had my bank on Gallopin Des Champs but a year is along tome in racing.

I can neither bring myself to bach him or back anything to beat him so I will just be watching.

Racing Post report he's a surprise runner. Maybe those geniuses failed to notice he was backed from 3/1 to 6/4 3 days ago.

Gerri drifting in both races...

Drift didn't last long some books have him at 2/1 best price now 5/2.

I see Marine National is entered on Wed which will probably see his price for the Arkle drop to about 5/4 if he jumps well and hacks up like expected.

As for Facile Vega I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him

Well at least I got something right today. Facile Vega has never convinced me he's top class

The question now is as you say Euro are they all shyte?

They seemed to quicken off the last bend like proper horses so may all be quite good.
Facile Vega swings his off fore so needs more space than Jack Kennedy gave him.
Jack rode a tactically masterful race, a noted judge reckons Walk In The Park stock to be soft under pressure, considering the sire's fee daylight robbery.
Time will tell.

Paul was at Kempton.
Patrick has Bumper form on FV and Racing Post Chase form on Douvan.
His article on not giving his dad too many christmas presents paying off with these Stephens Day rides is entertaining.

The fv reputation exceeds him. He would maybe benefit from another half mile but as the wise man said, some of these WITP horses, lack a bit of steel.

I thought it a naive ride from Patrick.

The yard appear to have convinced themselves that Facile Vega is a monster, but racecourse evidence suggests that they’re kidding themselves on a little.

Patrick’s ride smacked of someone who expected turbos to kick-in and it was simply a matter of when he pushed the button, but FV has never really been that sort of animal. He is a strong stayer at 2m and very-likely needs further, and it’s somewhat of a mystery to me, that he was ridden for a turn-of-foot today. I’d be expecting him to be ridden much more aggressively over 2m next time, if he isn’t upped in trip.

I don’t think he’s for writing-off entirely - he had a disappointing run at Leopardstown as a novice hurdler before coming back to something close to what would be expected - but the notion he is the monster the yard hoped for, is rather shot to pieces right now.

Jack thanked him for taking the inside at the end

With the perceived best horse, no need to complicate things and they should of went all out with him

He is indeed a horse oversold to us.

I think Willie's JP horse looks his best novice fwiw

Which one? Indiana Dream or Fact to File?

Patrick is far from Naive and as good a jockey as most. I think the decision to hold him up came after he hit the front 2 out at the Festival and was run out of it. They hadn't made the running since and today if anything he was too prominent.

Take the winner out of the race and he simply never got home. No matter how they had ridden him today he would have won nothing and in the future if he meets anything witha touch of class he will be beaten again.

Clearly I am not a fan and to be honest I have never liked the horse.........he was overrated to the shitouse over hurdles and the same it would seem applies to hurdling.
