Top Irish Jump Races

He was impressive and Thedevilscoachman & Ashdale Bob are good yardsticks.

Will he get three miles at Cheltenham though?

It's a fair concern but without Flooring Porter and the age profile of the other proven stayes I have a sneaking supsicion that it will turn into a sprint finish ala Penhill

Forgive me Grasshopper but I'd put State Man above Hurricane Fly.

No stress, Darren.

The form-book speaks for itself, imo, and I’ve long-since stopped trying to justify HF’s place in it. Maybe I’m mellowing with age?

Plenty weren’t convinced when he was winning two Champion Hurdles, placing in another two, and winning five Irish Champion Hurdles, four Morgianas and four Punchestown Champion Hurdles apiece, and I dare say they will never be convinced.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and each to their own. And a Happy New Year when it arrives, mate.

Grey expressed an opinion to me, maybe expressed here or elsewhere that State Man is underrated to keep C Hill's rating from reaching stratospheric levels.
State Man is under rated as HF was in his day, and HF still is by some.
State Man has 7 Grade 1s in the bag in 19 months ; that is rapid accumulation by any standard.
I think we have not seen him at his best yet , at least I hope not.

When art speaks we should listen.

I don't think state man has beaten an our conor or jezki just yet to counteract

He is entitled to improve and it is the belief of PT that SM didn't run his race in march last year.

I had expected SM to go chasing so credit to all for keeping him hurdling

On that line of argument, you’d basically have to say Theatreworld was better horse than Hurricane Fly.

It’s as flimsy as a rag-doll, imo.

If Constitution Hill was to retire tomorrow he’s still the best I have seen, even though you couldn’t call him a great champion who beat all comers for several years. I expect him to achieve such greatness in the end, but you never know.

Theatre World did not win 1Grade 1 hurdle, let alone 7 in 19 months.
Interesting to get a WPM / Paul T / David Casey take on relative merits of SM and HF.
HF a wonder horse ; as Ruby said you could ride him as fast as you dare to the last and he would get to the other side whatever it took, long or short and land running.
That they could another near as good that will keep on giving in a way Faugheen or Annie P didn't is something to savour.
Consider Constitution Hill will be confined to 3 Grade 1s a season, this fellow can win 3 before Champion H and one after, year on year, all going well.

Happy New Year as well buddy.

Truth is, Constitution Hill is totally unexposed, so none know his limits.

A happy and prosperous New Year to all on TH.

They are fairly average these days -they had some phenomenal offers back in the day.
They have a great offer for the football tonight. Bet €10 on any market with odds greater than 1/2 and get €5 free bet for every goal scored.

Under 2.5 goals is 21/10. Also, if it finishes 0-0, you get €5 free bet.

Just checked their twitter; the £25 in free bets will be paid within 48 hours.

Edit: You have to claim them via 'my offers'. Click the account icon in the top right to bring this up (I never knew this existed).

Talking to Lar at Leopardstown , Paul T was disappointed he left the race behind him with Lecky at Navan.
He thought the horse was not alright the way he settled compared to his previous runs.
He did not get after him until the race was over but is convinced the horse will improve now he does settle.
Good enough for this is another story but hopes are the best is yet to come.
