TV coverage

Loved the RTE enthusiasm for the big races at Leopardstown and Limerick today.
Kudos to Matt Chapman for an interesting and revealing interview with owner Darren Yates.
Usually I don't mind Alex Hammond but herself and Josh Apiafi are an appalling combination.

I love the way Venetian Williams responds to Matt Chapman’s questions

What’s the horse’s target? We don’t do targets other than the next race

Is he better going right handed? Horses go round and round and left or right handed makes no difference to them

Admirable patience as he asks the same thing time after time. After his interview on Sky today he said enjoy the rest of the day ands I could just see her thinking I will now I’ve finished speaking to you 😀

Somebody call the fire brigade, according to halfwit Plunkett , Ben Pauling is "literally on fire", though no flames or smoke was in evidence when they interviewed him.

In which country? I’m stuck with Virgin Media here in Ireland and Sky Sports Racing is alive and kicking.

Are ITV showing the 10.15am from Lingfield tomorrow morning? I think they are. I've never seen such an early race.

They must be showing it on The Opening Show?

Nice to see Chapman making a total arse of himself again, boldly approaching Ruby to tell him he'd never won the Clarence House only for Ruby to rattle off four winners he'd ridden :ROFLMAO:

There have been several programmes recently where the ITV team has been based at a different course to that/ those being televised. This has meant no post-race jockey interviews. So much more enjoyable. Normal service resumed today with the achingly in-the-know Alice P.

I really don't like Alice Plunkett nowadays.

I think she makes it about her too often when she's meant to be interviewing and I find some of the things she says deplorable.

Like after Freddie Gingell won a big race on Il Ridoto and she chimes in with: "don't do that looking to the heavens thing again, it chokes me up."

Who cares what "chokes her up?"

He's a young lad who lost his MUM.

He can look to the skies every time he achieves something he thinks she'd be proud of him for the entire rest of his life if he likes.

I once didn't mind Plunkett too much, but I decided she was obnoxious after that.

That would explain them saying Mark Bradstock died “recently” - fully appreciate I’m not their whole audience, but I can’t be the only person who doesn’t think of almost a year ago as “recent”

I think the coverage is broadly good and admire the efforts made to get a worthwhile programme on when circumstances are challenging. But they need to let stories emerge spontaneously instead of always looking for an emotional angle. The Mark Bradstock comment actually detracted from Mr Vango’s gutsy victory for me.
