Victor Chandler Chase

only because he hasn't run in one though

i'd run him in the Ryanair instead ..will be a better race..will be a non event in the CC
but the reason it's a non-event is because he's in it!

if they chose the ryanair it would have the same effect with the opposition re-routing to the cc/gc :D

yep i'd spotted thats why;)..but i doubt if many of those 2.5+ milers would do that..particularly as some need a bit further ..a drop back to 2 miles wouldn't help many of em.

its always easier to step a horse up and hope for a steady pace than drop a paceless horse back where he will have little chance

You almost forget he's yet to win a Champion Chase!

You are forgetting who trained Moscow Flyer and that there are times when diplomacy is the best policy.

Both Nicky Henderson and Barry bite their tongues when asked how good he is.

Nicky said he's heading towards being a good horse but he has along way to go.

I take both with a pinch of salt.

One pundit said.....we can start comparing him to Arkle which is a lot nearer the mark that comparing him to any other you care to mention.........he's awesome absolutely awesome....and absolutely the best chaser at this stage of his career I have ever seen.

He's winning in 2nd gear pulling a cart....... when did you last see any horse do that 7 times on the trot?

Magnificent today - a big round of applause the moment he jumped the last .

He did not , however, receive the ovation of the day - that went to Imperial Commander .

Helluva run from him considering his trainer saying the race would blow away the cobwebs. If he comes out of the race ok he's no 25/1 shot for the Gold Cup.

Imperial Commander is the type that when he's on song he'll run the same kind of race and always be a very hard horse to beat. Stonking ew bet if he's still around 25/1 on the day.

That IC''s trainer took the trouble to give him 3 racecourse gallops suggests there wouldn't have been many cobwebs, Fist.
Yesterday was his day.

100% agree. Yesterday was his Gold Cup and I will avoid him in March.
I would love to see him win though all the same and Im gutted he lost yesterday

It was just something I read Reet so I don't really know but the great thing about racing is you're allowed to have more than one day.

I seem to remember everyone on TRF telling me the Betfair was Kauto Star's day and he managed to do ok a few days before he was 12 yo.

I think it's fair to say Imperial Commander who has had 1/2 the amount of racing Kauto Star had has every chance of coming back to something like his best

I backed him months ago to lay him which I have done and now I intend backing him on the day for a place only. He should be around 4 or 5/1 and I'll be damned if I can find 3 horses who will outstay him. He has won twice at the festival let's not forget

Given his form figures, Fist, his next one is much more likely to be alphabetic, rather than numeric, anyway.

Great effort to get IC back....but to suggest he will figure in the GC is surely a mistake. He was beaten by Cape Tribulation?!?

He has a terrific record around the track . Watching again he was going very well in the 2011 GC when he broke that blood vessel .

That's everything I feel there,very well put.

Before the race, I wondered if they wouldn't want to leave Imperial Commander's Gold Cup hopes behind with a hard race today. Then I heard on the ML that he'd had some racecourse gallops. With TB out, yesterday's race suddenly opened up and I backed IC for both yesterday's race and the GC. Then Brennan said before the race if he was 80% fit he'd win, and he would have done - by a long way - if Cape Tribulation wasn't there. Then NTD said he'd still been short of work.

I think the picture is a bit unclear but I'm happy enough that I took the 50/1 yesterday morning even though I can't quite see him beating Cape Tribulation at levels on yesterday's evidence. I expected CT to improve again going into the race but he seems to have improved quite significantly in much the same way Synchronized did around this time last year.

DO
Based on his Welsh National RPR, Synchronised improved just 5lbs to win the Lexus, and a further 2lb in the Gold Cup.Even allowing Cape Tribulation improved as much in 1 race (highly questionable, imo) he still a mountain to climb to emulate him..

going back to Sprinter Sacre

are we ever going to see him run against a really good horse?..its getting to the point now that we have potentially one of the best horses but will never see him have a race ..as others run from him to other races

If Sizing Europe and Flemenstar take him on, that will do for starters.
