Victor Chandler Chase

SS needs one of Flemenstar, Finians or Sizing to show up otherwise it will be an exercise canter....

I think if flemenstar wins the Hennesy it will be GC definate.Something tells me he won't come otherwise.

lets hope he doesn't then..it will be a waste for him to go to the GC when he could make the CC the race of the festival..why would they not come to the biggest festival of the year with a horse like F..would be a travesty

Why wouldn't they come.......the owners are set on GC,they won't come over for the Ryanair after what has been said about the race. For me Flemenstar is right up there but I don't think he has the speed to trouble the monster and I think they know that.Travesty yes.Pocket talk I Hope he wins the Hennessy and I get a run for my money.fwiw I don't think sizing or Finians will line up either.

shame..personally i've got more interest in collecting Savile memoribilia than the Irish Hennessey

the CC might as well not be run..just give it SS and toss a coin for the place money

That's because you're a classless, sand-gobbling, b*stard. :D

Remember the old adage: "Never be afraid of one horse.....unless its name is Sprinter Sacre".

It would be criminal if connections of top-class 2-milers swerve the Aeroplane, just because they think they'd get beat. We're not talking absolute no-hopers in Sizing Europe, Flemenstar and Finian's Rainbow - surely at least one of them will take him on?

Don't know it would make an ounce of difference Grassy.

What would be criminal is if Nicky Henderson kept him at 2 miles next season but that is highly unlikely.

What's even more criminal not one of the big bookies have him in their King George VI chase betting.

Better that they run and get beat, than swerve the challenge altogether, Tanlic, no.

i'm afraid its starting to pee me off..this dodging

it seems that the thing we have all wanted to see..possibly a horse like Arkle..is just going to take part in a series of non events.

i suggest they frame a handicap where SS carries 12-7 and the rest 9-7..has this been done before? ;)

Not really...Take Flemenstar for example. I'd say he's got a better chance of winning the Ryanair than beating Sprinter Sacre. If I am correct that would cost them around 70k the last time I looked and we saw yesterday what can happen to horses who try and take Sprinter Sacre on............Flemenstar could easily be out of the money completely if ridden to win and others are ridden to get placed.

which makes having a horse like SS a bit pointless..it pains me to say

yes i see the money argument...but its all a bit sad isn't it?

I remember talk like this about Master Minded during the 08/09 season.... I'm not saying they are comparable or that MM is better (Sprinter still hasn't beaten MM's 186 - debatable though it is) but if SS goes for the Melling it wouldn't surprise me if he got beat or got a proper challenge. That seems the obvious target after the CC and it might be the day we see him tested properly, particularly if Flemenstar were to turn up although I doubt it.

Sprinter looks untouchable over 2m.

Sprinter Sacre is the best chaser I have seen and if keeping healthy he is almost impossible to beat.
master minded, azertyuiop and moscow flyer were top class but this is something else.

NH was very clear after the race that Sprinter Sacre is a specialist two miler - I do not understand this obsession with making top class two milers into staying chasers.

Moscow Flyer 's connections never felt the need to run over 3 miles

To be fair, the King George was given notional consideration for Moscow Flyer, but I agree with the overall point. There's no shame in being a champion at 2m.

Nicky did say "I can't see any way that he is going to need or want to go any further" and Barry said " It would be like running Frankel in the Ascot Gold Cup" but that was then and this is now. Those quotes came after his win in the Arkle but the improvement since the has been astonishing.

He was brilliant when he won the Tingle Creek but just awesome on Saturday and there can be little doubt without the exertions of moving into 3rd gear from 2nd gear to settle the race he could have gone round again.

That was the impression he gave a lot of people and it must be playing on connections minds "What If"

I can't see The Moulds or Nicky Henderson being content with only 3 wins tking it all goes well in the QMCC. I would imagine he'll run for a 4th time. The question is where.

He could go to Ireland for the Punchestown Champion Chase but The Melling Chase round Aintree's easy turns over 2m4f would be my bet as where they would like to go.

Of course Buckley may want last years winner Finian's Rainbow to go there if he bounces backso no doubt politics will come into it.

Sooner or later they will give it a go he's too good not to at least try over longer.

Tested properly?

Who do you know that could clone Arkle?

He's as low as 1/4 and at best 2/5 at the moment.

I doubt if they turn up they will offer much better.

Big Buck's has gone off at 5/6 and 10/11 at the festival and never lost in 18 races but as good as he is he never wins by that far and he doesn't have the superstar status that grows every time Sprinter Sacre steps on to the racecourse.

The bookies know how popular he is and punters will back him at virtually any price so I don't see them having to offer a price like 1/2 which would have the big punters falling over themselves to get on at.

Taking it one or both turn up I think you'll get a bit of 1/3 but he'll go off around 2/7.

If they don't he's certain to be the shortest priced horse to run at the Festival since the 60's........I'd agree with links around 1/8 maybe even 1/10 if something like Somersby ie is next in the betting

The same horse beaten by Frascati park over 20f?

I genuinely think we'd see him tested over further; clearly he's a better horse over fences than hurdles but he's a 2 miler through and through. Flemenstar would give him a serious race over 2m4f.
