What are the Police for? This is a horrible story....

All this talk about "remedying the causes" is complete garbage

How long is that going to take? What use is that to some family being terrorised at the present time?

This sort of intimidation has to be stopped right now

Heavy career ending punishments for the police and real fear put into the gangs. Real fear....

Can you imagine telling this poor family that " we are remedying the causes" and come back in 20 years?

Also the assumption that all the kids families are on benefits which could "be stopped" is based on what exactly?

Someone explain to a silly old fart just what a troll is?
I thought it was either a Scandinavian mythical being or something that the late lamented Kenneth Williams used to do?
"Hello, my names Sandy and this is my friend Jules"

Well, watching ITV now it appears that one thing the police do quite well is covert operations involving catching those sick, sick fucks who groom kids for sex in internet chatrooms. I know it goes on, but seeing it played out for real it utterly sickened me to see some of the depraved, retarded scum that there is out there.

"Mr Tew said he hoped that changes implemented after the deaths would mean that today’s force would classify the campaign waged against the Pilkington family as a hate crime against the disabled, an actual crime rather than antisocial behaviour."

This is something that has wound me up for years now, the jargonisation of the term "antisocial behaviour" and all the serious offences that fall under this name - i'm sincerely glad the police and government/law agencies are looking at this.

Same with the phrase "street crime".

I agree with you, Martin. 'Antisocial behaviour' doesn't begin to cover terrorising people, vandalising their property, killing their pets, wrecking their cars, etc. It's not antisocial (although technically, yes, it is against society), it's plain criminal. It's a term which seeks to downgrade the awfulness of the existence of some people, especially those more vulnerable than some. The news tonight wound up by saying that in spite of a plan to evict the families responsible for the thugs, there were still 'problems' on the estate (caused by the same thugs). More pathetic knee-trembling nonsense from the Council and the coppers. I suppose we mustn't trample on their sacred human rights by dispossessing them - although, one asks, should they be moved on at all to other estates? Why inflict these people on others? Are they continuing to be rewarded with any 'benefits', for example? I'd have thought one incentive to behave better might be the immediate loss of all but real disability bennies - take away any children's allowances, any unemployment hand-outs, and definitely any housing allowances and, if necessary, housing. If they won't live decently within society, then just show them what living outside it is like.

I must admit, when I used to hear about these stories in the media I took a very reactionary and retributional view of what should be done. The thing is, whatever punishment you give these people, it will not account for the amount of 'law abiding' cowards in society that would watch old lady's get mugged etc. I suppose i'm more of a community/social cohesion man who wants strong role models and people taking back their streets as opposed to a capital punishment person as we've seen higher up the thread. Whether capital punishment would work or not is a bit irrelevent - the point is no amount of lobbying or spouting off on forums will change the governments (or any governments position for that matter) on the issue - you'd be much better off having a word with the next mugger or anti-social lout wandering your streets. You could even get a rottweiler like me, and let him out everytime someone throws a snowball against your house in the winter.

Fear does perpetuate fear, and entices criminals.

Do you have a problem with me posting on here?

If so please PM me so we can sort it out.

Either that or you are an extremely bland and boring person, who delibrately misinterprets posts to suit your own antaganostic style of posting.

When referencing my ageing rottie, and his place in the local community, I obviously was not saying that would have prevented the deaths of this mother and daughter, so i do find your ignorant posting a bit annoying.

As for violence perpetuating violence, whats new there then?

The comments following that update say it all - I imagine most people have lost any confidence in the notion that the police are supposed to protect the innocent. One of the chaps I worked with at Plumpton (he was on security detail) has the interesting job of occasionally escorting foreign scrotes back to their country of origin following sentences served in the UK. He's been punched, kicked, scratched and bitten - but he can't carry any form of defence, not even a spray, and the one time he kicked a large crim in the goolies, due to the scrote having tried to bite him in the jugular, he was suspended from duty for several months, pending an inquiry (by the Home Office - now, there's a cheap laugh) for using 'excessive force'.

Yes, be as bad as you want to be - Plod will protect your 'human rights', even if you're guilty of committing the most inhuman acts. If we descend into an anarchic state of every man for himself, the blame lies squarely at the door of the Home Office's inept, if not corrupt, attitude towards any amount of influx of illegal aliens, including criminals, which has hugely led to the xenophobia now rampant in the UK, and to its yellow-bellied, craven posture towards old-fashioned muscular policing, which was based on the common sense which seems to have deserted schools, parents, councils and the police.

When they are sent packing I they don't just come back again as that's what has been going on, things are bad in London but I don't think all forces think like Lestershire, maybe some one should bring a charge againsy the the CC, for corprate manslauter, so at least he loses his Pen.pot that we are all forced to pay into.
That is trruly awfell thing that anyone feels that they no one to turn too.

Hang on - something's innately wrong with that article. How can Poole Council be unaware that this woman was housed next door to a family renowned for terrorising their own estate? In order for the family to be known for being ghastly, there'd have to be reports, wouldn't there? So either the Council is lying, or nobody ever reported harrassment by the family. Something there doesn't stack up.

Also, there are plenty of charities which specialise in taking out disabled children for outings - there are, in fact, day centres for them, where they can mix with similarly-disabled children and be taken care of on a daytime basis. Aren't there any in Poole? If the mother had previously had a good job in car sales, then why can't she go back to work and have her child spend interesting and thug-free days in a day centre?

And what I really want to know is - where are the sires of all these disabled kids? Do they take a look at what they've thrown, and decide it's a bad reflection on their seed, and just walk? I see no signs of the fathers playing any part in supporting their families, either financially or by 'paying a visit' to these horrendous bullies. Don't tell me they're not only too scared to be real Dads, they're also too scared to be real men?
