The markets appear to be telling me I'm going to be losing money today so I'm keeping stakes modest.

I was going to back Captain Teague but it's too short to be backing to small stakes so I'm letting it go.

I've always had a good opinion of Golden Son so have backed it despite the market drift (14/1).

I wanted to back Langer Dan to beat Strong Leader but it's also weak which isn't a good sign with this fellow so I've abandoned that race too.

Hugo's New Horse (16/1) had a big reputation and a very progressive profile until the wheels appeared to fall off last season. The form figures as printed in the paper (/0P0P-) might suggest the price is generous but the stablemate has a good chance on my figures yet Cobden sticks with HNH so I'm hoping he's there to win.

The GS/HNH double works out at 254/1 so even a smallish bet will pay for Christmas if it happens to come up but expectations remain low.
