Oooh Kathy, find out who those cattle belong to - I think there are some Belted Galloways there and I know of a person who is rather keen to have a couple.

No, not me, they're wild feckers and I can't be doing with for ever chasing them!
Songsheet, I see the farmer most mornings on his tractor laden with hay going up the lane to feed them. I will see if I can stop him next time I see him and see if they are actually his. The fields belong to a beautiful estate so not sure who the "owner" is. They are not overly friendly cattle and spend their lives as far away from the footpath as possible... apart from feeding time of course.
I'll see what I can find out for you. :)

It's amazing really,we are warned about the threat of snow and yet still are totally incapable of dealing with it.
And it's not exactly as if it's a regular occurence, today would be the first snowfall we've had in over a year!

I took a few pictures on my walk between East Hendred and Steventon this morning and have uploaded them to the orange site - unfortunately compressed as they are you can barely make out the deer that were running across the fields

Very atmospheric, Ian - the snow-rimed pollards look particularly artistic. Is that your Lab going bonkers? Dogs just go mad in the stuff, don't they? :D

Except our pups, it appears. Mags decided it wasn't for her & she'd just batter the door down instead & Chewby decided she'd leg it down the side of the garden then join her sister battering the door down.....didn't want to know in the slightest!

Woohoo! Emilys school is closed again! According to the local radios website it's closed to pupils yet staff are still expected in. Shame for them but Emily is beside herself with joy and planning another sledging expedition to the huge hill and field behind our house :D I just hope the other two are at home now so they can join her.

No, sadly the other school is open. Lots of tears and feet stomping going on here now, not from me I might add

Same here - the country has gone soft ! School in Wantage closed because the roads are icy ! So my son is and winding my daughter up because her school in Compton is open.

It's nonsensical really. The two schools are opposite each other. One is open and the other is closed  It's just as dangerous getting to one as it is the other, the staff at the closed one are still going in and I'd say a large percentage of parents have children at both schools.

Ours is not to reason why though. Emily has thrown a few snowballs around and is now warming up with hot chocolate and squirty cream. Lovely.

We have 64 kids in out of a possible 1287. The Head is saying we are staying open. Great...

Heavy in the bronx pile of school kids(SENIORS) obviously sent home having snowball fight outside the abode................

Where's this GLOBAL WARMING GONE TOO, THEN????? :o
