Xmas Will Win Thread

I wonder would Denis Hogan coming out of retirement to ride in the Ayr bumper today merit inclusion in the xmas will win thread.

I’d say it warrants some attention. I’ve paid to find out as well. I know nothing about any of the horses, just a wild swing.

He’s going again in the Catterick Bumper this evening and taking money too. Paddy The Wire into 3s from 7/1

Horse yesterday ran to a fair level & Paddy The Wire was behind him in his p2p

I sorta hate myself for saying it, but I keep getting drawn to the Pipe horse Night Edition in the handicap hurdle.

The Boodles form hasn’t really worked out, and you could almost-certainly make a reasonable case for him being harshly-treated off 135 as a result, but.......I dunno.....the entry just looks moody-as-fu*ck to me, given the horse could have run in a hundred softer races first-time-up.

At 20/1 the theory can be tested, without immediate recourse to Baked Beans for Xmas dinner should it prove wrong.

I planned to put this one up on the longshot thread. Just waiting for the morning prices to see if anyone pushes it out to 25s or offers extra places.

It has been entered for a few races already so I'm curious that they've held off for this, the most valuable hcap hurdle of the season so far.

He was the the only UK horse to finish in among the Irish in the Boodles and I thought Scu was massively over-confident on him, trying to come from much further back than the principals. He's still a novice to all intents and purposes, therefore entitled to improve a bundle into his second season.

Still not one of my main two though :)

Isn't JP just using the trainers' retained jockey until he appoints his own? If so, why has NdB opted for Buzz?

Payback time from the Hennessy...

Asc 3.00 Ardlethen 7/1. After I'd backed it and put it up at long odds I read that Skelton was aiming for this race and working back from it so his Hennessy run now has to be viewed in that context. He was ridden for most of the race like a non-trier but appeared to cruise into a good position not far off the pace only to weaken late on like a non-stayer and wasn't given too hard a race.

Isn’t Aidan being touted as JP’s next jockey? He’s certainly riding plenty of them. The yard still favour Buzz although not writing off TFB in his first handicap. They think he needs further, but I guess the heavy going (and then some) sort of gives that from a stamina point of view. It’s the last race on the card so even though I don’t think there’s been much further rain it’ll be like running through a ploughed field.

Tough cards today. I quite like Itchy Feet at around 7/4. I don't see Caribean Boy putting his jumping under as much pressure as Imperial Aura did lto.

He's already taken a job with Olly Murphy. Nico won't have had the choice here. Frank Berry says who rides what in the green and gold.

I don’t get the hating in Nico. Probably riding to orders most of the time he fails to get ‘busy’ on a horse. Otherwise I think he’s solid enough.
