Xmas Will Win Thread

NdB is usually a positive for me although I tend to check his strike rate for outside trainers.

If he wasn't any good Hendo wouldn't let him near a horse.

Far better horseman, jockey and tactician than Tricky Dicky.

On ratings I’d be a backer of Benson for this. He’s very progressive, and I’m sure there’s more to come. But a hard race on heavy ground and a quick follow up put me off him.

I can see the appeal of As Time Flies By, but he’s on the short side in what is looking a very competitive handicap, so I went with Belfast Banter and Harambe at big prices yesterday evening. I have them both in each way doubles, trebles and Acca’s 6 places with Ardlethen 4 places, Enchrissant, and Lord Napier.

Couple of things..........1. JP has no intentions of appointing a retained jockey those days are over.

The other is there two Nico De Boinville riding? The one I know is one of the best at putting a horse spot on at a fence since John Francome
Won top jockey at the festival won the gold Cup after only 1 year as a pro. Entrusted with the comeback ride of Sprinter Sacre and rode Altior to 18 of his wins
and played a big part in Henderson becoming champion trainer for the sixth time...........you gotta be on something Slim:confused:

He has hands like Roberto Duran. If you rate him than good for you. Game of opinions.

Would be very surprised if in 24 months, Jonjo O'Neill Jnr isn't the retained jockey.

Tough cards today. I quite like Itchy Feet at around 7/4. I don't see Caribean Boy putting his jumping under as much pressure as Imperial Aura did lto.

Backed Caribean Boy to beat Drashel Dasher as Olly Murphy is poison. A hill I will die on.

By God, my heart does fall when I see my horse being held up for a late finish in going this heavy - they rarely manage it.

Nowhere near enough experience that AP or BG had when they became the Sundance Kid's number 1 Hawkwing and while there has been a strong bond between Jonjo and JP
that simply won't happen.

Frank Berry has made it clear They/JP have no interest in retaining anyone..the racing media bring it up when they have nothing better to do:cool:

I lost a few quid on Isolate but somehow I have Not So Sleepy in a few ten to follow lists. I'll settle for that.

Bensons winning a large handicap.

Stayed on from an absolute mike back after a truly horrific ride.

Benson and Belfast Banter - arguably the worst two rides anywhere all day.

Cant see it the same way. Belfast Banter smuggled into the race and hangs the latch. See form figures but watch races for proof. Benson made mistakes at the first two hurdles at least and is another sort, who decided to run on when he did. If anyrthing Nico should have moved sooner on Buzz. He was hoping the winner would come back to him, but wouldnt have made a difference to the result.

In my pre-race summary I'd said this renewal was beyond your normal good Saturday handicap. I planned to go high even before the race because of the sheer quality on offer.

I think what we had was two horses (NSS & LS) with the class to go a strong pace in the ground against others who could do one or other but not both.

Buzz was a Hendo job foiled and I'll probably rate the race around him being a good Saturday winner.

NSS & LS will get upgrades (that might only kick in when they encounter similar conditions), as will BB and Benson for the rides they got.

This race will throw up winners aplenty.

Hughie Morrison says next target in the Champion Hurdle. I hope they take in the old Betfair Hurdle in Febraury at Newbury though, albeit off a higher mark. He'd go in there with a live chance.
