York Ebor Meeting; (a proper good meeting :))

Whatever else Heartbreak City put up a great performance. The horse is now favourite for the Cesarewitch. I assume he will be raised quite a lot for the apparent ease with which he won. Having backed Shrewd yesterday I was following his progress closely or rather I was following his lack of progress closely. With 2.5-3 furlongs to go he was 2nd last well behind the pack which was spread wide across half the width of the course and for some considerable distance in front of him. At that stage he started to motor firstly to get round a wall of horses and then to run a diagonal to chase HC. If he had caught HC it would have been one of highlights of the season. Bankensea has been mentioned as a possible candidate for the Cambridgeshire for a similar late burst. Maybe Shrewd could provide the second half of an Autumn double.
